What Should I Look For in a Slow Cooker?
The best way to decide which Slow Cooker or Crock Pot will work best, is to purchase one sized for your needs.
After years of using slow cookers, here’s what I’ve found works best for me…
2 quart Slow Cookers work great for making Slow Cooker Dips.
4 quart Slow Cookers are ideal if you are just preparing meals for 2…. or you want to make hot drinks.
If you plan to prepare Family Style Meals for Large Groups of 4 or 5, consider a 5.5 – 6 quart Slow Cooker.
If you love to make pork ribs, go big and get a 7 – 8 quart Slow Cooker.

What Can You Use a Crockpot For?
You’ve probably already guessed that crockpots are a really convenient and easy way to prepare crock pot dump meals for Chicken, Pork and Beef.
Well guess what, crockpots are also the perfect small appliance to use when preparing Easy Vegetable Recipes, pasta, and desserts, too!
You truly won’t believe how many incredible 5 ingredient or less meals you can actually make using just 5 ingredients! This massive list of 5 ingredient or less Frugal Girls crockpot recipes proves that point deliciously!

Are Cheap Slow Cookers Any Good?
Yes, they sure are!
Over the years, I’ve collected name brand and off brand slow cookers, and honestly have never noticed a difference.
Slow cookers are generally very inexpensive, unless you decide to pay more for premium features like a searing function, timer, warming function or WiFi connectivity.
If you don’t need those features, then you might as well go for some fun colors or patterns to liven up the kitchen!
As a Frugal Girl, I LOVE owning such a useful, inexpensive kitchen appliance!
Can I Just Throw a Bunch of Ingredients in the Crockpot?
Well sure you can! The simplicity of these dump and go slow cooker recipes is what keeps them in our meal plan rotation, right?
However, when it comes to chicken dishes, the last thing you want to do is to just throw everything in your crockpot.
Why? Well, that’s simple. If you add your sauce while your chicken is cooking, you’ll end up with a watered-down, very diluted sauce.
That’s why we’ll be cooking our chicken first, draining the juices, then adding the sauce at the end, to make sure you end up with a thick, rich, and delicious sauce that will deliver maximum flavor. You won’t believe what a difference it will make!
