I’m thinking of searing the chicken first. What do you think?
A. says
Could I throw in a bag of frozen broccoli florets with this? And if so would it change cook time?
Heidi says
It’s possible, but I’d actually recommend cooking and seasoning the broccoli separately and serving it as a side.
Krista D. says
I made this today with 3 frozen chicken breasts and approximately 20 oz Italian dressing (olive garden brand). It cooked on high for 4 hours, i shredded it and then let it cook for 30 more minutes. my family loved it and I have lots left over for wraps tomorrow! Thank you for the recipe!
Heidi says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Krista! And yes… it is SO delicious with the Olive Garden brand Italian dressing, too! 🙂
CHRISTINE Turner says
Is it better to use whole chicken breasts or thin cutlet style?
Dana says
Can you use creamy Italian dressings
Jenna says
I only used 2 breast. Should the chicken be totally submerged in the dressing?
Laura says
has anyone tried adding honey to this recipe?
Tammie says
So glad I found your website. Not only do you think of us who are frugal, but I can’t thank you enough for just the EASE of it all. (Also for reminding me that I don’t need 15 ingredients for dinner to taste good.)

Kathy says
This is one of my husband’s favorite weekend meals. I add a cream sauce and serve over rice. MMMMM!
Mix a can of cream of (mushroom/celery/etc) soup, an 8 oz pkg of cream cheese, and a can of sliced mushrooms, drained. Pour over the chicken and cook another hour on low. Out of this world good!
Heidi says
Ooh ~ that sounds delicious, Kathy! Thanks for sharing… I’ll have to try that!
jody says
Mix the soup, cream cheese, and mushrooms together before you add to crockpot? Or can you dump these on top of the chicken in the crockpot? Thanks.
steph says
Can this be done on low for 6-7 hours? Will it be the same effect? I also wonder what adding soy sauce to it would taste like.
My mother in-law did a similar recipe but without the crockpot:
1/2 C. Italian Dressing
1/4 C Soy Sauce
Add a little garlic, onion, salt, & pepper to season
Pour over chicken in a dish & marinade for atleast 1hr but up to overnight
Add Chicken to baking dish and cook in the oven or on grill
SOOO AMAZING!
Dee says
Oh yea. I always cook on low because I’m gone more than 4 hours a day. Usually. I’ve done chicken breast a thousand times. Depending on the thickness it usually takes 6 hrs or so 🙂 I’ll have to try the soy sauce opt! Sounds like it woukd pare with the Italian dressing very well!
peggy says
do I have to boil the chicken before I put it the crocpot? or do you put thawed chicken and the dressing and cook together?
Heidi says
Hi Peggy ~ you won’t need to boil the chicken first, just add the thawed raw chicken to the crockpot with the dressing, and cook together. Hope that helps! 🙂
Meanda says
I love Italian chicken.
