Tara says
Would the cooking time be less if I only do 1-1.5 lbs of chicken breast tenders??
Heidi says
Yes, you will need to shorten the cook time for that. I would just keep an eye on the chicken and check periodically to see how fast it’s cooking. ENJOY!
Shannon says
Can I cook this but use velveeta instead of cheese queso from a jar? I have rotel and my kids would prefer chicken breast while not shredded. I didn’t know if you had any suggestions. This looks Devine and would be awesome to come home and make some Mexican rice to serve with it.
Heidi says
Hi Shannon ~ I honestly haven’t tried this recipe substituting Velveeta, but if you do… let me know how it turns out!
Christie says
Thanks for sharing this recipe with us Heidi! I bet that chicken was mega tender. Sounds so amazing and great for meal prep
Heidi says
It really is SO tender and delicious, Christie! And you’re right… perfect for meal prep for later in the week, too!

From a young woman just starting to cook for her boyfriend to become wife material.
Heidi says
Aww… you’re very welcome, Marissa! So glad you liked it, and that your man liked it, too! 🙂
Vikki says
When it says cook chicken in the crockpot, do you put anything with it, liquid or anything?
Heidi says
Hi Vikki ~ you’ll cook just the chicken in the crockpot for the first step. No extra liquid is needed, because the chicken will quickly release juices and cook in its own juices. Hope that helps! 🙂
Vikki says
Thank you!!
Heidi says
You’re very welcome, Vikki… ENJOY! 🙂
Maria says
Has anyone tried this as a freezer meal? Do you think it could work as a Freezer Meal?
Merrideth says
This looks good! This is the first recipe I’ve seen so far that cooks the chicken first and then adds everything else and only cooks for 30 minutes. Still simple, but makes sure the other ingredients don’t get overcooked. I can’t wait to try this.
Meghan says
I must make this. It sounds divine.
Heidi says
It’s SO yummy, Meghan… hope you love it! 🙂
