  4. Chris says:

Could I use frozen pilsbury biscuits.?

    1. Heidi says:

      Hi Chris,

This recipe works best with the refrigerated biscuits.

  5. Katie says:

I made this for a dinner and it was delicious! Not so much a hit with the kids, we’re in Massachusetts and I don’t think they really understand the whole Southern thing…but oh man, the adults ate this right up! I’m going to cut the recipe in half and make it for dinner for my family of 3 tonight. I left out the bacon and onions because my husband and I aren’t fans of one or both, but it still came out fab! Thank you!

    1. Heidi says:

I’m so glad to hear you liked it, Katie! 🙂

  6. Karen says:

Making this today. I’ve made many chicken and dumplings. From scratch to one that uses round flour tortillas cut in strips instead of biscuits. All are good. None as good a my Aunts. Then comes the bacon.. I added peas and not a drop left.
Thank you so much., It’s a hit!

    1. Heidi says:

I’m so glad to hear you loved it, Karen… the bacon is definitely a game changer! 🙂

  7. Elizabeth Swihart says:

I tweaked it a bit & my fiancée had 2 full bowls!!!
First, I doubled the recipe, but used 2 cans of cream of mushroom in addition to the 2 cans of cream of chicken. I used milk in addition to chicken broth. I chopped & added celery & sauteed the onion & some garlic with already cooked bacon bits. I think I put it in the stratosphere by adding a package of sausage gravy mix instead of flour. I started by spreading some on parchment paper, then took each individual biscuit and put the powdered mix on them & rolled them out with a rolling pin before cutting with a pizza cutter. I was also lazy in that I used 4 big cans of chicken so it didn’t have to cook so long. One hour on high, 2 on low, then put in 2 8oz containers of sliced mushrooms. As soon as it came to boil again, I began adding the pieces of dough. Turned back to low for an hour & stirred frequently.

    1. Heidi Miller says:

Those sounds delicious – thanks for sharing!

  8. Shelly says:

Can you use frozen chicken breasts?

    1. Bobbiejo says:

I would like to know the same thing…..Can you use frozen chicken and just cook longer?

      1. Cindy says:

I use frozen every time and it works out great just check it for doneness and if needed add a little more time to cook
