I have used Swiss cheese, hot pepper jack cheese, and even provolone. All good
That’s a great tip, Tricia… thanks so much for sharing!
I didn’t have 2 cans cream of mushroom so I substituted with cream of chicken- plus I used sliced Gouda – we really enjoyed this – it’s a keeper!!!
Those sound like delicious twists, Cherie… and I’m so glad you liked it! 🙂
I added ham slices before the cheese right on the chicken and continued with the recipe as written. It was so good. Like a cross between chicken cordon bleu and a mini thanksgiving dinner! I also served cranberry sauce on the side! I highly recommend it!
That sounds like a delicious twist, Julie!
Hi, has anyone made this with FROZEN chicken breasts?
I have made this in the past and we love it! It’s been a while since I made it, so I can’t remember for sure if I thawed my chicken lol
Thanks!
I’ve found it works best with fresh or thawed chicken.
This recipe could not be easier and it is absolutely delicious! One of my go to meals when I know I’m going to have a busy day.
So glad you liked it, Betsy! 🙂
Can you use chicken broth instead of milk?
You sure can, it will just be a tiny bit less creamy.
Would this come out good if i just chop the chicken into bite size pieces? This recipe is similar to what i make but I bake in the oven.
If you’d like bite sized pieces, I’ve found it’s better to chop it up at the end, to avoid the chicken getting too tough and overcooked.
I’m trying to reduce my calories. Is there to make this healthier by using half a stick of butter?
I think it might be too dry.
