Expertise

I’ve been the Recipe Developer, Food Photographer, and Blog Author here at The Frugal Girls since 2009. Here you’ll find Crockpot Recipes, Quick and Easy Chicken Dinners, Savory Soups, Delicious Desserts, and so much more!

As a wife, mom, and business owner, I’ve set out to create ridiculously easy recipes with step-by-step instructions and massive flavor!  My goal is for you to become a kitchen superstar… minus the effort!

Regional Cuisine

After growing up in Washington state feasting on wild-caught seafood, and in addition to living in California for a year, my husband and I settled in Arizona. We have an amazing foodie scene here, but the Mexican food tops the charts.

Mexican food in Arizona isn’t a cuisine… it’s a way of life! That’s why you’ll find many delicious Mexican Recipes across the site.

My husband and I have also traveled extensively across the USA, and have racked up oodles of delicious memories along the way. Yes, foodie trips are a thing! On each trip, I have made a point to learn everything I can about each region’s local cuisine, and recreate it as soon as I got home.  Thankfully we have made countless trips to the South to visit one of our sons who lives there, and that’s why you’ll find your fair share of Southern comfort food recipes here as well.

International Cuisine

My extended family immigrated to the US from Denmark, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.  My husband’s family came primarily from Norway, France, and the UK. Our grandmothers were treasure troves of delicious European recipes that they were more than happy to share with us!

Then, while focusing on cross-cultural studies in college, I became even more passionate about delicious cuisines across the world.

After marrying my husband, international cuisine went to the next level. I was immediately taken into a beautiful, culturally diverse family including a Puerto Rican half-brother on one side, Asian step-mom on the other side (hello, delicious Asian Food Recipes), and a sister-in-law who soon moved across the world to raise a family on an Australian cattle station.

Furthermore, my husband and I have traveled to multiple countries outside the US, including, Italy, France, Ireland, Mexico, and Canada. Let’s just say our time in Rome resulted in my ongoing obsession with creating wildly Easy Italian Recipes.

With each trip, I’ve developed an even stronger love for re-creating the delicious cuisines we feasted on, and take such joy in getting to share them with you!

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Seattle Pacific University and self taught home cook.

Coffee Training

While working an internship at the Starbucks headquarters in Seattle, I was trained extensively on how to create every hand crafted drink on the menu.

Bakery Training

I also had the opportunity to learn under a professional baker at a local bakery. I was trained in advanced techniques for baking sweets, cookie decorating, cupcake decorating, piping frosting, chocolate molding, and unique royal icing designs to create edible works of art! That’s why you’ll find such a large collection of Quick and Easy Dessert Recipes here!

My work has been featured on Local and National TV, Radio Programs, Magazines, and Online Media Mentions… including Today, NBC, Fox, People, Country Living, MSN, Buzzfeed, Parade, and Woman’s World.
