What Kind of Chocolate Do You Use for Chocolate Pecan Pie?

Well… it’s actually as simple as a bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips!

They are already in bite sized pieces, and the rich semi-sweet flavor will give your pie such dreamy decadence!

Ingredients

You’ll just need the following ingredients to make the BEST Chocolate Pecan Pie!

Check your pantry or cupboards, or add the following to your next grocery list to make sure you’ve got everything on hand…

  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Chopped Pecans
  • Karo Corn Syrup
  • Pie Crust – you can use store bought or Homemade Pie Crust
  • Eggs
  • Sugar
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Butter
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt
  • Lemon Juice

You’ll also need a 9″ or 9.5″ Pie Plate to get the job done.

How to Make Chocolate Pecan Pie

You won’t believe how simple it is to make this dreamy Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie at home!

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. First you’ll want to preheat your oven.

2. Then carefully roll out your homemade or store bought pie crust into a 9″ or 9.5″ pie plate.  Flute or crimp the edges for a pretty finished touch.

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat your eggs until they’re light and fluffy.

4. Add Sugar, Flour, Melted Butter, Vanilla, Salt, Lemon Juice, and Corn Syrup to the bowl, and mix thoroughly.  Then stir in your chocolate chips with a large spoon.

5. Pour the mixture into your pie crust shell, and bake for 45 – 50 minutes, or until set and golden.

6. Once you remove the pie from the oven, allow it to cool on a wire rack for a minimum of 3 hours to finish setting.  For the best results, I like to let me mine set up overnight.

Does Chocolate Pecan Pie Need to Be Refrigerated?

Yes.  After baking and allowing your chocolate chip pecan pie to cool, you’ll transfer your pie to the refrigerator.

How Do You Store Chocolate Pecan Pie?

Storing chocolate pecan pie is simple!

After it has finished cooling, simply cover loosely with a piece of foil, then place in the fridge to keep cool.

When you’re ready to eat, you can enjoy cold, bring to room temperature, or bring to room temperature and then reheat a slice in the microwave to warm it back up.

Ingredients 

  • 3 large Eggs
  • cups Granulated Sugar, (White Sugar)
  • ½ cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 6 tablespoons Butter, (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • ½ cup Karo Corn Syrup
  • cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • cups Chopped Pecans
  • 1 9 inch Single Pie Crust

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Carefully roll pie crust out into 9" or 9.5" Pie Plate, then flute or crimp edges.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy.
  • Add sugar, flour, melted butter, vanilla, salt, lemon juice, and corn syrup.
  • Mix thoroughly, then stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
  • Pour mixture into pie crust shell.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes - 50 minutes, or until set and golden.
  • Important: Cool on wire rack for a minimum of 3 hours, to allow pie to finish setting. For best results, I prefer to let mine set overnight.

  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator, and eaten chilled or brought to room temperature before eating.  Or after bringing your slice to room temperature, you can also warm it up even further in the microwave.
