Here’s what you’ll need…

  • Butter Pecan Cake Mix – A vanilla cake mix can be substituted.
  • Chocolate Chips – Just regular semi-sweet chocolate baking chips.
  • Pecans – Just like I used with these Maple Pecan Cookies and Pretzel Turtles.
  • Eggs
  • Butter* – Vegetable Oil or Canola Oil can be substituted.
  • Maple Extract

How to Make Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies

It’s time to get your cookie sheets back to working their magic and doing what they do best… making these chewy chocolate chip pecan cookies!

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. Mix your Cake Mix, Butter, Eggs & Maple Extract until well combined.

2. Then gently stir in your Chocolate Chips and Pecan Pieces with a large spoon.

3. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator.

4. After your dough has chilled, preheat your oven and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.

5. Roll your cookie dough into balls, and place on your cookie sheets.

6. Bake in your oven, then cool on wire racks.

Ingredients 

  • 13.25 ounces Betty Crocker Butter Pecan Cake Mix, (if using a 15.25 oz. box, increase butter to 1/2 cup, vanilla cake mix can also be substituted)
  • 1/3 cup Melted Butter
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Maple Extract
  • 1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, (9 ounces)
  • 2/3 cup Finely Chopped Pecans

Instructions 

  • Gather your ingredients.
    Butter pecan cake mix, pecans, and chocolate chips.
  • Combine Cake Mix, Melted Butter, Eggs, and Maple Extract in large mixing bowl, and mix with hand mixer or stand mixer until well combined.
  • Stir in Chocolate Chips and Pecans with large wooden spoon.
  • Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • After dough has chilled, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll cookie dough into 1 1/2 tablespoon sized rounded balls and transfer to cookie sheet.

  • Bake on center oven rack for 7 – 13 minutes, or until done. (Note: Bake on the shorter end of the time range for non-stick cookie sheets & longer end of the time range for aluminum cookie sheets.)
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer cookies to wire racks to finish cooling, and ENJOY!

  • Butter: When it comes to cake mix cookies, salted or unsalted butter can be used, as the cake mix will have a little salt in it. However, I’ve found that salted butter will result in superior flavor.

    Thank you for posting this recipe. I used a butter pecan cake mix, used butter in place of oil and I didn’t add additional pecans. The cookies are so soft, delicious and not overly sweet! I will be making these again and the recipe is now in my recipe box.
