My Seriously Thrifty Shopping Trip to Fry’s {Kroger}

March 30, 2010 By Heidi 13 Comments

I may get paid for ads or purchases made through links in this post.

This week I was able to score some rockin’ deals at Fry’s {Kroger}!

Even better yet… my sweet hubby did the shopping for me ~ I loaded him up with the coupons, and he did the bargain hunting on my behalf!  Oh, how I love that guy!!

Fry’s {a Kroger store}
Total Spent {after coupons}: 50 cents!!

  • After coupons, the Brownie Mix, 2 Vitamin Waters, Vinegar, and two 5 lb. Bags of Flour were all FREE!
  • After coupons, the Mott’s Apple Juice, Ken’s Dressing, and 2 Dial Foaming Soaps {which I will refill} were 50 cents each!
  • Now this is where the deals really get good… the Ronzoni SmartTaste Pasta was on sale for 75 cents each.  I used coupons to stock up and get nine boxes for Free!  The coupons doubled and took $1.00 off… so I was actually paid 25 cents to take each box off of their hands!!  Aww ~ how sweet!   I guess it’s time for me to make up some more E-Z Meatballs!

So… that’s how I was able to snag everything pictured above for a total of 50 cents {before tax}!!

Have you found any great grocery deals this week??  Leave a comment ~ I’d love to hear!

    Would be great if any stores around here in Mid Wisconsin doubled but its few and far between, we talked about moving and I got kinda excited for which stores there would be lol. Good scores on the food!

    Help, My Wal-Mart actually would not let me use my 1.00 off any baby bath product so I could get the buddies soap free like you talked about . It is .97 cents and the manager said they could not give items away free. Is there any thing I can do about this? Thanks for any help.

    WOW! That is truly amazing! I just started this whole coupon thing last week and I’m still trying to get the hang of it. I spent $11 at Walgreen’s today, saved $10 and got the $2 register rewards coupon back and was pretty proud of myself, but I have yet to get anything free and still manage to spend a good amount when shopping…even thought I am saving too! If you have any advice for me I would love it! Your site has helped me a lot, thanks!

    Went to King Soopers – got $49.62 worth of groceries for $14.83. Not my best, but worth posting I think. Found some “stickies” (coupons stuck to the box) that I wasn’t expecting, making my cereal (the 17 oz Kelloggs!) only 77 cents. Again, not my best ever, but better than the $3.49 regular price!

    Everything was on sale and I had coupons but my biggest splurge was the Dreyers Limited Edition Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint Ice Cream which I paid $2.25 for (regular $5.49). But it’s limited edition, so I have to stock up while I can. It’s heavenly!!

    Other than that, I was fantastically frugal!

    I just scored some of the exact same things you mentioned at my local Kroger. They see me coming with my fist full of coupons. I usually leave the cashier with her mouth on the floor! hahah 🙂

    I live just north of Seattle and shop mostly at Albertsons. They ran three double coupons in their Sunday paper ad and I used 2 sets at 2 stores (as I’ve been out and about). 1 trip: 3 boxes of Ronzoni Smart Taste, 2 cans of Dole Mandarin Oranges for FREE. Each were $1 and I had an overage from my doubled $.75 coupons on the Ronzoni that covered what my Dole coupons didn’t cover on the oranges.
    2nd trip: 3 boxes of Ronzoni Smart Taste, 8 cans of Progresso minestrone soup for FREE again. Each were $1 and I had 3 more $.75 coupons for the Ronzoni, some coupons for the Progresso plus a $4 catalina from last week’s Post deal.

    My husband likes the way I shop. 🙂 I like getting out of the store for NOTHING. We don’t pay tax on food food unless it’s prepared so I didn’t have even one cent out of pocket for either transaction.

    Our Kroger stores don’t double the 0.75 coupons, but the item is still free. So, not bad at all.

    Oh how I miss being down there. Up in the Pacific Northwest, everything cost more and they don’t do coupons. There is no way you can find pasta for .75cents here.
    I was looking at Easter stuff last night and I use to be able to get those plastic eggs for .69 cents and grass for, oh I can’t remember, but fairly cheap. All I could find now was, at least $2.00 for either of those, at any store. I am happy for you to find such deals! I use to do that too when I lived down there. Not any more…:-(
