Strawberry Angel Food Cake

Ingredients
- 16 ounce Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix box (make sure to use the 'just add water' variety)
- 21 ounces Strawberry Pie Filling can
- Optional: Cool Whip for Topping
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Add powder cake mix and pie filling to large mixing bowl, and stir together with large spoon or wooden spoon.
- Then pour mixture into 9×13 ungreased ceramic baking dish. (Do NOT grease pan.)

- Bake for for 28 – 33 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

- After baking, it is completely normal for your cake to fall in the middle as it cools.

- Optional: To avoid the cake falling a bit in the middle as it cools, you can immediately turn upside down to cool... I use handy dandy loaf pans as support. 😉
- The dump cake will be a dense and delicious treat... perfect topped with whip cream and sprinkles!

Hi, can I use gluten-free angel food cake mix instead of regular?
I honestly haven’t tried it that way, Angela… but if you do, let me know how it turns out! 🙂
Can a 10×15 pan be used to bake cake? And, once baked, should unfrosted cake be stored unrefrigerated and well or loosely covered?
Hi Maureen ~ the unfrosted cake can be stored covered with foil at room temperature. I haven’t ever tried a 10×15 pan, but if you do, let me know how it turns out!
Can you bake it in a disposable foil pan?
I honestly have not ever tried it that way, but it you do… let me know how it turns out!
Any time I use this recipe, my cake seems to fall after it cools, almost flat. I have mixed by and and mixer, both ways fall. Is this normal?
Hi Mary ~ this angel food cake will puff up tall as it bakes and then gently fall and settle as it cools. It’s best if you mix gently with a large wooden spoon before baking, and avoid using a mixer. Hope that helps! 🙂
Can you use fresh strawberries in this recipe??
Hi Nicole ~ you’ll want to use a strawberry pie filling in this recipe, but if you’d like to make your own, you could definitely use fresh strawberries to make a homemade strawberry pie filling.
Can you use angel food cake pan?
Same question! Did you find an answer anywhere?
I honestly haven’t ever tried making this with a tube pan, but if you do… let me know how it turns out! 🙂
I used a bundt pan (i greased it!) but it came out beautifully and out of the pan with no issues! I used Blueberry pie filling and it smells so good!
That’s so great to hear, Cherre… thank you for letting us know! 🙂
