It takes just a few simple ingredients to make the BEST Cornbread in your cast iron skillet!

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Cornmeal
  • Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Butter

You’ll need a 12″ Cast Iron Skillet to get the job done, too!

How to Make Skillet Cornbread

You won’t believe how easy it is to make perfect homemade cornbread in your cast iron skillet!

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. Stir all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl, until well combined.

2. Preheat your skillet on the stove top.

3. Then transfer your cornbread ingredients to the skillet, and bake in the oven as specified.

4. Allow to cool a bit before serving, then slice, slather with butter, and ENJOY!

That’s it.  So simple!

  • 9×13 Cornbread – bake in a 9×13 pan and cut into squares

Skillet Cornbread Gift In A Jar Idea

If you would like to give this as a cornbread mix gift, simply whisk together Flour, Cornmeal, Sugar, Baking Powder, and Salt and transfer to a 32 oz. mason jar.

Then include a tag with the following baking instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

2. Transfer contents of jar into large mixing bowl, and add in 2 lightly beaten Eggs, 1/2 cup Milk, and 8 tbsp. melted Butter. Stir until well combined.

3. On stove top over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp. Butter in 12″ Cast Iron Skillet.

4. Once butter has melted, pour batter into skillet, spread out evenly, and transfer to middle rack of oven. Bake 18 – 20 minutes, or until done. (when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean) ENJOY!

Ingredients 

  • 1.5 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 5 tbsp. Cornmeal
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Baking Powder

  • 1 tbsp. Butter, not melted
