Skillet Cornbread Recipe No Buttermilk

Do you have a weakness for cornbread like I do?  This homemade Skillet Cornbread Recipe is over-the-top delicious when you make it in your Cast Iron Skillet!  Sure cornbread squares and cornbread muffins are always fun, but using your cast iron skillet is such an easy way to infuse extra flavor and perfect crispy edges into your recipes.  It will take your cornbread to a whole new level… just trust me!

Easy Skillet Cornbread Recipe

Make yourself some truly sweet heavenly cornbread with this easy Skillet Cornbread Recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 5 tbsp. Cornmeal
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 Eggs lightly beaten with whisk
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 8 tbsp. Butter melted {1/2 cup}
  • 1 tbsp. Butter not melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • In large mixing bowl, stir together Flour, Cornmeal, Sugar, Baking Powder, and Salt with large spoon until well combined.
  • Add in Eggs, Milk, and 8 tbsp. melted Butter, and continue to stir until well combined.
  • On stove top over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp. Butter in 12″ Cast Iron Skillet. {will take about 2 minutes}
  • Once butter has melted, pour batter into skillet, spread out evenly, and transfer to middle rack of oven.
  • Bake 18 – 20 minutes, or until done. {when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean}
  • Serve with Homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter to send it over the top! ENJOY!

      Hi Lara ~ I always just use nonfat milk in the conrbread, and it turns out great. Although I’m sure it would work fine with other types of milk as well. 🙂
