What Is Crumble Topping Made Of?

Your crumble topping is made from a mixture of cake mix and melted butter.  These are stirred together until crumbly, then placed on top of your dump cake.

Why Do Dump Cakes Work?

The magic of this strawberry cheesecake dump cake is in how easy it is to prepare.  All of your ingredients are very forgiving and the recipe takes hardly any effort to prepare.

Simply add your ingredients, layer by layer, into your baking dish.  Then pop your baking dish into the preheated oven and wait for your strawberry cheesecake delicious goodness to bake.

Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake Recipe!

Ingredients

  • 15.25 oz. Betty Crocker French Vanilla Cake Mix {1 box}
  • 42 oz. Strawberry Pie Filling {use 2 cans, 21 oz. each, OR use homemade Strawberry Pie filling}
  • 8 oz. Philadelphia Whipped Cream Cheese
  • 8 tbsp. or 1/2 cup Butter melted {1 stick}

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray inside of glass or ceramic 9×13 Casserole Dish with non-stick cooking spray
  • Empty cans of Strawberry Pie Filling into bottom of baking dish, and spread out evenly.
  • Scoop dollops of Cream Cheese on top and spread out over Strawberry Pie Filling.
  • In medium mixing bowl, combine dry Cake Mix and melted Butter, and stir until crumbly. {break up any large chunks into small crumbles with spoon}.
  • Pour cake/butter crumble mixture over strawberry/cream cheese layer in baking dish, and spread out evenly.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until sides are hot and bubbly.
  • Top with Whip Cream or a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. ENJOY!!
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator.

    I couldn’t find the whipped cream cheese! How much of a difference will it be with regular cream cheese?

      Hi Nina ~ hmm… you could try bringing your regular cream cheese to room temperature and then whipping it with a hand or stand mixer to turn it into more of a whipped consistency. If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out!

          Wonderful! Also, it’s actually just an 8 oz. tub featured in the photo, so yes… 8 oz. of whipped cream cheese is all you’ll need. 🙂

      Hi Charley… yes you can make it in your crock pot, and it’s delicious! Just spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray, layer the ingredients like in this recipe, and cook on HIGH for 2 hours, or LOW for 4 hours. ENJOY! 🙂

    The pictures show dollops of cream cheese, but the recipe says to spread it. I’m just curious if I need to try to spread that cream cheese or if you just meant spread the dollops out evenly across the pie filling.

      Yes… this would be delicious out camping! You could either try it in an XL cast iron skillet on the heavy duty bbq grill grates, or in a camping dutch oven over hot coals. Hope that helps!
