  1. Rebecca Dillon says:

Such an easy and tasty recipe! Thanks for sharing. I really dig this one.

    1. Heidi says:

You’re very welcome, Rebecca! It really is ridiculously simple to make. 🙂

  2. Amy says:

Have you tried this with the regular Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce or is the Root Beer better with the Honey BBQ flavor?

    1. Heidi says:

Hi Amy ~ I have tried it both ways, and they are both delicious. It’s really just a personal preference. The Honey BBQ does add a nice touch of sweetness, but the original tastes great, too!

  3. Katherine says:

So I can use drum sticks instead of chicken breast

  4. Kelsey says:

I just tried this recipe last night for dinner and I must say I didn’t think it would taste as amazing as it did! My husband and room mates were skeptical at first as well, but they loved it saying how great it was! Thank you very much Heidi for this yummy and simple meal!!

    1. Heidi says:

Aww ~ you’re very welcome, Kelsey! So glad everyone loved it!! 🙂

      1. Mack says:

Can I cook all ingredients at once?

        1. Heidi says:

Hi Mack ~ you can, but you’ll end up with a weaker more watered down sauce. I suggest draining the juices and adding the sauces at the end for a thicker, more flavorful dish. Hope that helps!

  5. LaDonna says:

When I do the first step do I need to add water in the crock with the chicken?

    1. Heidi says:

Hi LaDonna ~ no water is required, as it will end up cooking in its own juices that it releases. Hope that helps! 🙂

      1. LaDonna says:

Great thank you we are making this tomorrow for dinner 🙂

  6. kathy says:

Hello, I am going to try this today … can I use ” Perdue “split chicken breast with ribs” .. it is 2.7 lbs. if so how long in the crock pot ? It is already defrosted. Thanks in advance!

  7. Victoria says:

Hi. When you cook the chicken for the first 3 hours, should I add water or just put the chicken in alone?

    Thanks! This recipe sounds delicious!

    1. Heidi says:

Hi Victoria ~ you’ll cook just the chicken alone in the crockpot, as it will end up cooking gin its own juices. Hope that helps! 🙂

      1. Victoria says:

        Yes it does. Thank you!

  8. Debbie H says:

I was wondering if you could diet root beer?

    1. Peggy says:

Did you try it with diet root beer

  9. Linda says:

Will the combination of the Root Beer and Sweet Ray’s make this a real sweet sauce? My grandson loves Root Beer /BQ sauce but, he doesn’t like it sweet. Any ideas? Love your recipes !

  10. James says:

If I were to cook this on low, how long would I cook it for. I’m wanting to start it in the morning, and finish it up when I get home?

    1. Heidi says:

Hi James ~ if you’d rather, you can cook it on ‘Low’ for twice as long without draining the juices. I like to drain the juices to keep the sauce nice and thick, but adding all ingredients at the beginning would work as well… you’ll just end up with a thinner sauce. Hope that helps! 😉
