Instructions to Clean Keurig:
You won’t believe how easy it is to clean your Keurig…
Remove the water container on your Keurig, and pour out all water.
Fill water container approximately halfway full with White Vinegar {or enough to brew 2 cycles}
Place a mug where you’d normally place your coffee mug, and run a brew cycle {without a k-cup}. The vinegar will run through the machine, cleaning it out along the way! Toss the contents of the mug down the drain.
Repeat by running a second cycle, and tossing the contents of the mug again.
Pour out all remaining vinegar from the water container, wash container well, and now fill halfway with water {or enough to brew 2 more cycles}.
Brew a cycle with water, toss contents of mug, and repeat brewing 1 more cycle with water. REPEAT this process of brewing water as necessary, until the vinegar taste is gone.
Once the vinegar taste is gone, remove water container again, pour out remaining water, wash well…. and you’re done! EASY!

I wanted to add about Keurig K-cups. We use the reusable ones off of eBay, and they last for a long time! Inexpensive, compared to buying K-cups prefilled with coffee, tea, or almost any type of ground beverage you want. It saves an enormous amount of money, Plus, you can use any type of coffee (ground), tea, or even cocoa, that your heart desires! Try it! Your taste buds (and your wallet) will thank you!

Oh, yeah! The vinegar works with all types of coffeemakers!!! I’ve been doing this for years–my mom taught me that trick years ago! Works wonderfully with my Keurig!

I have done this numerous times since I have owned 2 Keurigs. I read somewhere that it is good to let the water/vinegar mixture sit for several hours in your Keurig to really get it clean. Wherever I read this, it was suggested to do a brew cycle one time keeping the k-cup holder empty and placing an empty cup below to catch the water/vinegar mixture, then keeping the Keurig turned on allow it to sit for a few hours before completing what you suggested above. I typically place a note on my Keurig so no one accidentally makes a cup of something. =) I also run an entire container of water through after cleaning out the vinegar mixture just to be sure there is no vinegar aftertaste. I take apart my all the extra portions of the Keurig including the holder for the k-cup and clean and rinse those pieces, too. I really believe taking time to do this will enable your Keurig to last longer.

AWESOME post- I’ve been looking for an effective and affordable way to do this. Do you know if there’s a difference if we use distilled water as another commenter mentioned above?

Worked great. I ran about 5 or 6 cups of water, but only because I also had a new filter and wasn’t getting full cups at first.
