Katie writes: “For my wedding reception, we purchased Hershey Kisses and made little tulle “bags” to hold them (5 or 6 Kisses per bag). We tied them with decorative wire ties that had matching silk flowers on them, but ribbons would work too. Then, using our computer, we printed out little tags that read “Hugs & Kisses From The Mr. & Mrs.!” and attached them to each Kiss satchel.
They were a huge hit at the reception! It took 3 people only an hour or so to assemble them, and most of the supplies were on sale at Michaels!”

More Wedding Favor Ideas:
Brittany writes: “I am a professional event planner and I can give you some inside tips. A cheap do-it-yourself favor is a bookmark printed on card stock. You can put a heart or symbol relative to whatever theme you’re using and a cute little bride-to-be poem with the couple’s names and wedding date at the bottom.
You can find lots of templates for Microsoft Word online if you Google around, or you can evenly space the columns yourself and use a paper cutter to make them crisp and straight. Punch a hole in the top and tie in a pretty colored ribbon.
Also, I’m a total fan of address labels and office supply stickers. You can literally print whatever you want on them and use them to personalize a wide variety of items. Mini candy bars, dollar store candles, etc. I often use the business card kits and type a cute poem or message on there and then hole punch it and affix it to any item the bride-to-be chooses. It can be so simple and cheap but the personalized tag makes all the difference.”
Renee writes: “Cake pops…. you can dip one in dark or milk chocolate, and the other in white chocolate … wrap in cello, or even add some edible glitter to the white one to ‘fancy’ it up.”
Leigh writes: “We did a “Candy Bar” – Different shapes and sizes of glass jars filled with candies in our wedding colors (Blue, brown, cream, silver). Guests could scoop what they liked into the cellophane baggies, and we had little Thank You notes attached to the ribbon ties. Candywarehouse.com has great selection of candy, and you can narrow the choices down by color scheme!”
Kristin writes: “I made my own jelly candy favors.”
Marny writes: “I bought my cousin the little boxes in the wedding section at Michaels or AC Moore, and she put homemade fudge in them. It was yummy.”
Malissa writes: “At JoAnn {or your local craft store} they have chocolate molds. Make chocolate or white chocolate hearts and put in a clear bag with ties that are your colors.”
Suzy writes: “We are doing chocolate roses… it’s pretty easy and you can get the rose mold, and the melting chocolate at Michaels. Use the mold and add a lollipop stick. Let the rose set and add a the plastic cover some ribbon and a saying like “Thanks for coming your love melts our heart” or something like that. $25 for 100-150 people! And a huge hit every event!”
Rai writes: “Make homemade scented bath salts tied up with a tag and ribbon.”

Shannon writes: “I bought a giant bag of red tulip bulbs from Sam’s Wholesale and put each bulb in a little gauze bag with ribbon pulls.
I bought a package of printable place cards in ivory card stock, printed our names and the date on the outside in one wedding color, on the inside I printed an explanation – “This is a tulip bulb, plant it and think of us when it grows.” I loved getting pictures from guests when the flowers bloomed!”
Erica writes: “My husband and I got engaged at the Holland tulip festival. We gave tulip bulbs as favors at our reception. Each package was tied with a ribbon & had our engagement story attached to it. Maybe you have something that is special, yet inexpensive that commemorates something in your relationship.”
Teri writes: “We made the favors for my daughter’s wedding. Tiny clay pots, {3 for $1 from Dollar Tree} with a pack of flower seeds, {2 for $1 dollar from Dollar Tree}. We made little tags that said something about watching their love grow.”

Sue writes: “Chocolate dipped pretzels, not the rods but actual pretzels. One in dark chocolate and one in white for the bride and groom in a cello bag with a ribbon of your wedding colors. You can add disco dust to the white ones, and a tiny bow tie out of 2 chocolate chips on it’s side for decoration.”

Laura writes: “We put 5 Oreos in a cello bag tied with ribbon, and attached it to a small container of milk with a sign on the table that said something about ‘We belong together like milk & cookies. Thank you for coming!'”
Beverly writes: “I made several different kinds of cookies and placed them in glass cookie jars. The glass jars were decorated with ribbon, flowers/twigs, and scrapbook paper labels from IKEA for just a few dollars each. I then had brown lunch bags printed to match our napkins. The guests were able to place cookies of their choice in the printed brown bags to take home and enjoy!”
Maria writes: “Sugar cookies are adorable, sweet, and perfect for any party favor. They’re easy to personalize to the event!”
Ernestina writes: “Have a get together with your bridal party and bake, decorate cookies. Place in cello bag with cute bow and note to your guest. We handmade all the party favors for my daughter’s wedding. It was lots of fun getting to know the important people in her life, including the other side of her new family!”
Sharee writes: “Women always love food. Maybe some of those mixes in a jar with the recipe attached or make your favorite treat with the recipe attached?”
Marianna writes: “My cake doubled as my favor. We did donuts as the cake with personalized to go bags. They could eat it then or take it home and eat later.”
Cindy writes: “We did a ‘Trail Mix’ bar at my daughter’s Fall wedding. We used salty and sweet items, and placed them in glass containers for everyone to mix their own. The Trail Mix was placed in small brown bags and the bags were stamped with the wedding date. It was a huge success! You can use nuts, cereal, M&M’s, pretzels, dried fruit, etc.”
Laurie writes: “My niece and her husband gave scone mix. They got married at the fairgrounds where the bride had spent many years showing animals. Each person got enough mix to make four scones. Directions for making and baking were given inside. Very cute!”
Jen writes: “We made 96 pints of blueberry jam. My future mother-in-law found the jars on sale and gifted them to me for my birthday. The 7 gallons of blueberries came from the bushes in our yard. We ordered stickers on Vistaprint when they were running a deal and picked up ribbon at our local salvage store for $0.50/roll.”
Karen writes: “I canned salsa and strawberry-rhubarb jam in 4 oz. jars for favors for my son’s wedding.”

Sarah writes: “Homemade pies or crisps in half pint mason jars!!”
Claire writes: “My wedding is in October, and we are having a Fall themed wedding. We’ll be giving Fall themed candy bars with multi-colored sheer bags, then at each place setting we are doing caramel apples!”
Marcia writes: “We just got married this past Saturday and I did caramel nut apples. I was going to make them myself, but ran out of time. I went to the local grocery and bought what I needed, clear cello bags and satin ribbon in our colors. The reason we chose apples was that the very first time my now Husband and I met, instead of bringing me flowers, he brought the caramel apples. He didn’t know it, but I LOVE caramel apples! Everyone also loved them Saturday!”
Allea writes: “My husband and I made tea bags full of our own blend of green tea, spearmint, and lemon balm. Filling the tea bags was a little tedious, but it was very cheap, personal, unique, and everyone loved it. We got the bulk tea, herbs, and tea bags from the San Francisco Herb Co., then printed our own tea tags on the computer.”
Sara writes: “We went to oriental trading and got a mini screwdriver set, and tied it together with either a comb or a pick. My husband is a mechanic and I am a hair stylist!! We also made up a Paulson Times newspaper. I was one sheet with how my husband and I met, and how we knew everyone in the wedding party. We rolled them up and put one of those little metal fake wedding rings around it. People loved both!!”
Jamie writes: “My favors were cups, coozies, and fans (that doubled as programs)”
Elizabeth writes: “I made bookmarks as favors for my wedding {typical for a librarian 🙂 } I just printed pics of my hubby and I, and some quotes on white cardstock paper. Then I glued some textured red cardstock paper to the back of them. Punched a hole in the top and added ribbon. Could get really creative with this idea!”
Allison writes: “Soap is easy and affordable to make. Put it in a cute mold, like a heart, wrap in netting or some sort of wrapping.”
How to Make Lotion Bars
Carrie writes: “We had a small wedding. We had no favors, but instead I let guests take home the centerpieces I made with silk flowers and dollar store vases.”
Jessica writes: “I made magnets for my wedding. I bought 2 sets of double nine Dominos for about 8 bucks a set. Then I used alcohol inks in our colors and stamped half of the Dominos tangerine and the other half teal.
Once that was dry, I used black archival ink to stamp different designs on the smooth side, some said “love” and some had a stamp of a bride and groom.
I used a sharpie to include our names and wedding date on the sides of the Dominos, covered them all in dimensional glue, then super glued two small circle magnets on the back and was done.
All in all, I was able to get all my favors done for around $50. Maybe not as frugal as some of the other ideas, but it was a great alternative to candy or food items.
I made a chalkboard sign to put on the table next to them that said “All love is unique. Please accept a handmade favor as a token of our thanks and as a reminder to all the unique love in your life.” Guests loved it, no two were the same!”
Michelle writes: “Our wedding favors were little bags with everything to make s’mores.”
AnneMarie writes: “We found some very inexpensive coasters and put one of our engagement pictures in them. Then we wrapped a ribbon around them. Our guests LOVED them!”
Denise writes: “We bought the little wedding bubbles ~ just the plain ones ~ and made our own labels with our printer and label sheets. The we bought a spool of elastic ribbon in our colors to use for bows. We also bought white Chinese take out boxes and stenciled Faith, Hope, and Love symbols on them in our colors to put our homemade gifts in.”
Casey writes: “We got married at Christmas so my favors were mercury glass ornaments I found in large packs at TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Home Goods.”
Rachel writes: “For our vow renewal, I’m going to put a hot chocolate mix, some marshmallows and broken up candy canes in small jars. Paint the lids and decorate with ribbon.”

Wendy writes: “You can get scented candles, wrap tulle around them, tie with a ribbon, and attach a card you made on your computer card with the wedding date, names etc.”
Jenni writes: “My fiance and I are making little mustaches on sticks and placing them in pots on the table. They also work as the center pieces. It’s fun, funky and super cheap. I got the idea on Etsy, but decided I was crafty enough to make them myself.”
And finally… Debbie writes: “Instead of favors we made decorative signs on the tables that let the guests know that in honor of their presence a donation was made to the bride and grooms favorite charity. People loved the idea.”
