What is the serving size?
Hi Kayla ~ yes… it’s definitely on the thicker side. 🙂
Is it possible to double to serve more people?
Hi Erika ~ this makes a pretty big batch, so a doubled portion wouldn’t really fit well in a crockpot. If you have two crockpots, you could make a batch in each one at the same time, or another idea would be to make one batch in your crockpot and one batch in your instant pot with the following recipe… hope that helps! 🙂

I just made a double batch in a 6 quart crockpot and it was perfect – added a bit more spice when cooking the beef and it received rave reviews.
That’s great to hear, Lora… and I’m so glad everyone loved it!
The perfect EASY recipe for winter! Thanks!
Thanks so much, Rebecca!
Do you drain the rotel?
Hi Jaime ~ no… you will not drain the rotel. Hope that helps! 🙂
Made this for first time tonight. All of us LOVED IT!! Just the perfect amount of spice – not too spicy at all.
Thank you! Kim
Thanks so much, Kim… I’m so glad to hear everyone loved it! 🙂
Did you drain the beans?
Hi Ruth ~ yes, you’ll want to rinse and drain the beans. Hope that helps!
Can I cook this low 8 hours or will that mess it up?
Hi Ellie ~ if cooking on low, it will just need 4 hours to cook. Hope that helps!
Is it thick? My husband likes a thick chili
My husband likes his chili thick, too… so yes, this is a thick chili. 🙂
I have a family of 6. Best recipe and have made it alot. We top ours off with a dash of sour cream, shredded sharp cheddar, and green onions. So good and easy to make. I do add a can of black beans and diced tomatoes. I like it chunky.
Do you drain the tomatoes?
I’m so glad you love it… and those sound like delicious additions!
I loved the Chili Recipe. It was fantastic. I can’t wait to try more of your dishes.
Thanks, Aaron… so glad to hear you enjoyed the Chili!
I am going to use this awesome chili recipe on the weekend and the cornbread recipe as well.
The chili pairs so nicely with the cornbread Irma… both are simple and SO delicious! ENJOY!! 🙂
I’m going to try the crockpot chili recipe for my next church “small group” gathering. Because I’m not supposed to serve an entire meal, I think I’ll take Fritos, sour cream, and the extra cheese for letting my friends add to their soup; hopefully, that will make it more snack-like. =) I think they’ll love it! Now to find a great cookie or bar recipe from The Frugal Girls (there are many) to take for all of us sweet-lovers. Thanks for the great ideas. Love your site!
Aww ~ thanks so much for the sweet comment, Sherry! This is perfect for a small group gathering, and the Fritos, Sour Cream, and Cheese are fabulous additions to the chili, too. YUM! Have fun!
I want to get the chili recipe to make for family and friends.
I doubled the recipe and added an extra can of tomato sauce. Turned out delicious! I will definitely use this recipe every time I make chili.
I’m so glad you loved it, Vanessa! 🙂
