Aww… thank you so much, Jessica! I’m so glad you loved the broccoli soup! Crockpots really do make dinnertime so much easier. 🙂
Melanee says
Can you use fresh broccoli instead of frozen?
Diane says
The soup is awesome
Diane says
This soup is great and easy to make
Alexis says
substituted evaporated milke for heavy whipping cream and added in some chicken broth. turned out DELICIOUS! I will be keeping this recipe for sure
Heidi says
I’m so glad you liked it, Alexis… and that sounds delicious!
SB says
This soup was super easy to make! I love meals that are one pot recipes! Making it for my best friend who just gave birth! I did also add a little chicken broth since people said it was a little on the thicker side
Heidi says
I’m so glad you liked the soup! And adding a little chicken broth is definitely the tastiest way to thin it down if you’re wanting a less thick soup. 🙂
Dionne says
If I need to double or triple the recipe to feed more how will that affect the cooking time?
delphine says
Je me régale avec ta soupe c’est très appétissant

Heidi says
Merci beaucoup, Delphine. 🙂 Belle soirée
Deb says
Can the broccoli and cheese soup be frozen
Heidi says
Hi Deb ~ it’s not recommended to freeze Velveeta because the texture just won’t be the same when it thaws, so this soup is better enjoyed the same day you make it. Hope that helps!
Cathy says
Love Broccoli & cheese soup. It’s in the crockpot right now.!
Had to sub an extra can of cream of mushroom, as I didn’t have cream of celery. Hope it turns out as good as it looks!
Also I had some half & half for the canned milk, as i had some i needed to use! Fingers crossed!
Courtney Allen says
This looks amazing! I’ve read that it’s a pretty thick soup which I love but my husband does not. He also likes chicken in this soup too. I plan on adding chicken and chicken broth to the crock pot on Low for 4 hours, then adding the rest of the Ingredients on Low for 4 hours. Giving the chicken 8 hours to cook. I bet that’d be perfect!!!
Jessica says
Can I leave out the onion out of pure laziness?
Heidi says
You can leave out the onion or try using Onion Powder instead as a shortcut.
Hope this helps ~ Heidi
Brooke says
Can you add potatoes to this? To make something like a potato soup? If so,,how do you incorporate them?
Melissa says
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe saute 2 medium sized, cubed potatoes with butter and onions and add to mixture…
Jasmine says
Amazing recipe and super easy!!! Only thing I did different was add a little butter, garlic and half a can more of evaporated milk. Perfect!!!
Heidi says
Sounds like delicious additions, Jasmine! 🙂
Lisa Lewis says
Do you know the nutritional information for this recipe Crock pot broccoli and cheese soup?
Terry w. says
Making this tonight. Using cauliflower. Also hoping it will be ok in one and a half hours because I forgot to turn the crockpot on when I plugged it in. I did microwave cauliflower 3 min before I added it. Wish me luck.
Vicki says
Followed it perfectly. ..a tad thick. DELICIOUS don’t get me wrong…portioned it out for office lunches and dripped a bit milk in for moisture and creaminess. ..Awesome add easy! …A+
lisa-girl says
It’s in the crockpot right now. Can’t wait to taste (devour) it!!!
Marisa Turpin says
I made this today for dinner and it was GONE in a flash. My son and husband both said how much they liked it. It made about 6 decent sized servings. We each had two bowls of it. I was sad there were no leftovers, though. I used 2% Velveeta cheese, broccoli florets (because I dislike the stalks and that is about all you get in the broccoli cuts bags), and one and a half cans of evaporated milk. One entire can was fat free, and the other 1/2 was regular canned milk. Also, I used the “healthy” cans of Campbell’s brand soups. So, that cut out some fat and salt, yet it was still delicious.
Cora says
Made this and it tasted amazing I added a little bit of chicken stock to it just so it wasn’t so thick but awesome recipe
Anita says
This was amazing!!! Thx made it for a work POTLUCK!! Two thumbs up+!
Heidi says
Aww ~ thanks so much for the sweet comment, Anita! So glad you loved it!! 🙂
Patti says
This sounds like a winner! I have a large family to cook for and from the looks of the picture it serves about 5, I think. Could I double the recipe and cook it in my 7 qt Crockpot?
Holly says
It should fit in 7qt. I used 8.5qt and a single recipe only half filled it
Kelli says
I want to make this a vegetarian meal and have a friend who is allergic to mushrooms… can I use other varieties of “cream of” soups??
Heidi says
Hi Kelli ~ absolutely… you can substitute those for other varieties if you need to. Maybe try Cream of Broccoli? Hope that helps!
Myrtle Lough says
This looks very good, but with only 2 in the family I will have to think about it.
Holly says
You can freeze the rest in individual portion containers. Reheating does make it thicker so maybe add a couple drops of milk
Peggy says
I wish that crockpot recipes would mention the size of pot needed. I have small and large.
Heidi says
Hi Peggy ~ I used a 5 qt. Crock Pot for this recipe… anything between a 4 qt. and 6 qt. should work just fine. Enjoy! 🙂
Holly says
I’m looking forward to making this soon. Does it freeze well for single servings?
Heidi says
Hi Holly ~ I haven’t tried freezing this one yet. If you do try freezing, let me know how it turns out!
Holly says
Freezing it worked pretty well. I put them in individual containers when I froze them. Thawed it for about 6hrs, then popped it in the microwave for about 1min. Came out a little thicker than when it was fresh, but not too bad.
Heidi says
I’m glad to hear that worked, Holly… thanks for sharing!
Linda Paul says
This looks great, can’t wait to try it!
Heidi says
Thanks, Linda… it’s SO simple and delicious! ENJOY! 😉
Shakara says
Love. Love your crockpot soup recipes thanks so much for sharing…with this broccoli and cheese soup recipe can the cream of mushroom be substituted out for something else if you are not a mushroom fan?
Heidi says
Hi Shakara ~ I’m so glad you’re enjoying the crockpot soup recipes! If you don’t care for the cream of mushroom flavor, you could try substituting that with a can of cream of broccoli soup. Hope that helps! 🙂
