Dee Rich says
This was a fun and easy recipe. I did change it slightly as I am not a huge fan of artificial strawberry. I used 2 Quarts real strawberries halved and cooked down slightly in a saucepan w/ 1/2 c water 1 tsp cornstarch and 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar. I also used a yellow cake mix. Topped w/ ice cream, Went FAST lol. Thanks for the recipe and Inspiration!!

Can i use applesauce instead of butter? My daughter can’t have butter and oil in her diet. This would make a great cake for her birthday if so 🙂
Linda says
Could you convert “a stick of butter” into cups please.
Heidi says
Hi Linda ~ 1 Stick of Butter = 1/2 cup. Hope that helps!
Latoya Reid says
What size crock pot should I use? I have a 3 quart and a 7 or 8 quart.
Heidi says
Hi Latoya ~ I usually use a 5 quart for this recipe. 😉 If you just have smaller or larger, I’d suggest going with your 7 quart when making it, so it has more room to spread out. ENJOY!
Latoya Reid says
Thank you!
Tina Nester says
I bought stuff for the strawberry dump cake, but need my crockpot for a ham I am cooking. How can I use the same recipe for the oven? Thanks in advance. – Tina
Lydia says
Can I use a medium sized crock? I’m using my big one right now for something else.
Heidi says
Hi Lydia ~ I’d recommend at least a 4 quart. Hope that helps! 🙂
Madalaine says
Could this be made in the oven?
Heidi says
Hi Madalaine ~ yes… it turns out great in the oven, too! Just bake in a glass 9×13 casserole dish at 350 degrees for approx. 30 minutes, or until edges are hot and bubbly. ENJOY! 🙂
Jessica says
Did you cover with foil or anything?
Heidi says
Hi Jessica ~ no need to cover with foil if baking in the oven. Enjoy!!
Terry says

Heidi says
You’re very welcome, Terry… enjoy! 🙂
Kristin says
I place several layers of paper towels over the top and then put the lid on. The paper towels keep the built up moisture from dripping down onto the cake mix.

Trying this recipe with white cake mix & BLUEBERRY pie filling…
