Can you use a instant pot and set it on slow cooking?
I honestly haven’t ever tried that, Kathy… but if you do, let me know it turns out!
Can u use one can of pie filling instead of 2
Hi Joann ~ Two cans of pie filling really works best for this recipe. You can try to make it with just one can, but you’ll end up with a much higher cake crumble to pie filling ratio.
Is it better cooked on low or high?
Hi Erika ~ either way works just fine, and turns out pretty much identical. It’s just more of a preference of when you want to start your Crock Pot, based on how much time you have before serving it. 😉
Can I use fresh peaches…if so, do I need to add anything else?
You sure can!
If you’d like to swap the peach pie filling for fresh peaches, here’s what you’ll need to do…
Peel, pit and slice 4 large peaches, and set aside.
Over medium-high heat, stir 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 3 tablespoons cornstarch until sugar dissolves and mixture becomes thick and bubbly.
Once mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and continue to stir for 3 more minutes.
Then add in sliced peaches, stir gently until they’ve all been well coated, and use this mixture in place of the peach pie filling per the recipe instructions.
This was very good and I’m not a peach lover. I put paper towels under the lid of the slow cooker to absorb the moisture.
Great tip – thanks for sharing!
Can this be made ahead of time and then pop in microwave to warm it up before serving?
Trying not to take my 7 qt crockpot on RV trip.
Hi Christy ~ Honestly, I’ve found that this tastes the best on the same day it’s made. If you’re taking a cast iron skillet on your RV trip, it tastes amazing made in that as well!
Hope that helps!
i used my 3 1/2 size crockpot and this turned out soo good.
So glad you liked it, Kim! 🙂
Does it matter what size crock pot is used?
Hi Sarah ~ I’ve had the best success with using 4 – 6 quart crockpots for this recipe. Hope that helps!
I made this yesterday and OMG it was great. My husband was licking his plate. I m gonna try different fruits next.☺
