Made this tonight, i didn’t have the onion soup i forgot it at the store but i did grab toasted asian kraft dressing and the smuckers apricot preserves. I simply put 3 chicken breasts into the croc pot, set it on high for 3 hours
came back and there was a bit of juice, so i took the juice into a bowl and i had made white rice the night before so i took the leftover rice and added the chicken broth to it, and heated it up in microwave, perfect! yay chicken flavored rice.
So then i squeezed a cup of dressing and 4 teaspoons of apricot into measuring cup, whisked it together, poured it over the chicken in croc pot (btw…the chicken at this point was extremely juicy and fall apart good) and i added a can of mushrooms (mushrooms are a staple in my household)
I wasnt satisfied with the amount of sauce so i doubled it, i added another cup of dressing, 4 more teaspoons of apricot, whisked, and poured, and now it was covering everything nicely
Turned croc back on high for an hour or so, to get that sauce time to get nice and thick and cover the chicken..then I’m going to take out the chicken, layer the sauce and chicken over my chicken flavored rice…my wife and her friend over for dinner arent going to know what they are in for! So good!
I was weary at first about the dressing, because i personally dont like any dressing i dont eat salads and cant stand ranch, anything with vinegar in it or anything really dressing-like.
But i took the plunge and used the asian toasted stuff, and its pretty darn good! I wouldn’t eat it on a salad or anything but it made this chicken dish really amazing. (and easy)
thanks for the recipe, I’m sure I’ll make it again someday.

It says to cook the chicken, but do we need to add water or anything, or just put the chicken in the dry crockpot?
Heidi says
Hi MJ ~ you won’t need to add anything else to the Crockpot at that point… the chicken will cook in its own juices that it will release. Hope that helps! 🙂
Jillian says
Hi! I’ve tried this recipe before and it was delicious. Do you think I can substitute pork chops for the chicken?
Angela Raum says
If you can’t find Kraft dressing Ken’s Steakhouse makes one too called Asian Sesame with Ginger & Soy. They even have a lite version, Kraft does too. You could even add frozen stir fry veggies, they don’t take that long to cook.

I have been to the store twice now and both times they haven’t had Apricot Preserves but I did grab Mango, would that be ok you use with this instead you think? Thank You!
Brandi Ryder says
Would you recommend cooking this dish on low for a longer period of time?
Heather says
Tried this recipe tonight but I cut up my chicken into bite size pieces to serve over rice after it was done. It was delicious!!!! When you cut the chicken into bite size pieces, it only takes 1 1/2 hours on high to be done.
Heidi says
Thanks for the tip, Heather… so glad you liked it! 😉
Holly says
Could you cook on low for a longer cook time while at work? What would you recommend?
Kim says
Made this tonight and it was a hit with my husband and kids! Quickly and easy to make. I’ll be making this again for sure!
Heidi says
Yay ~ I’m so glad the family liked it, Kim! 😉
Jordan says
Kim, what did you use as a side dish?
Molly says
I have not been able to find the Kraft dressing. Can you recommend a substitute?
Liz says
I couldn’t find the Kraft dressing either. I found one called “toasted sesame soy and ginger” by Olde Cape Cod. I’m hoping it still tastes great!
Angela Raum says
Ken’s Steakhouse has one called Asian Sesame with Ginger & Soy
