Love your recipes. Made these for work today for our potluck and they disappeared quickly. I cooked them about 3 hours and 45 minutes and they come out perfect. You do need to move them around while they are cooking as some get done faster than others. I cut the bacon in to quarters to make a few more but I think I would keep with the thirds if I made them again.

I’ve made these in the oven before and the bacon was cooked but very soft, at least on the bottom because of it soaking in its juices. I want to make these for work tomorrow. There are 7 of us so I’d like to make enough for everyone to at least have a few. My question is if I throw a bunch in at once to save time will my bacon be soft? Should I just make a couple batches? If I do a couple batches can I do them on high to cut my cooking time?

I put them on metal cooling racks while cooking them and partially pre-cook the bacon. Crispy all around.

I’ve made these several times and you can use half cut bacon but the third cut wraps perfectly around the sausage and makes them bite size.

Hi Teri ~ yes… you can definitely make the recipe larger, however they cook best if each smokie is touching the bottom of the crockpot while cooking in one layer, so it will just depend on the size of your slow cooker. Hope that helps!

I’ve tripled this and had the smokies almost fill the crockpot. They do taste better when they touch the bottom but they are still crazy delicious if they don’t.
