These look delicious! Who doesn’t love bacon? I love how easy these are. We have enough on our plates for the holidays, so this is perfect.
Heidi says
Thanks so much, Rebecca! They really are super easy… and will be gone in a flash! 🙂
Cheryl says
Love your recipes. Made these for work today for our potluck and they disappeared quickly. I cooked them about 3 hours and 45 minutes and they come out perfect. You do need to move them around while they are cooking as some get done faster than others. I cut the bacon in to quarters to make a few more but I think I would keep with the thirds if I made them again.
Lee says
How messy are the tooth picks when you take them out? Do you have to change them out?
Heidi says
Hi Lee ~ mine stayed really clean. I used the same ones that they cooked with to serve with. Hope that helps!
Teresa says
For a variation on this recipe, try it using chicken instead of smokies and add two tablespoons of chili powder to the brown sugar. Amazing.
erica says
delicious! thank you these are perfect for work potlucks
Heidi says
You’re very welcome!! 🙂
Connie says
Do you spray bottom of crockpot first with Pam or cooking spray?
Heidi says
Hi Connie ~ it’s not necessary, but you definitely can if you’d like. ENJOY!
Dianne says
Can’t wait to try this in my new casserole crock pot!
Heidi says
How fun… I love the look of those casserole Crock Pots!
Lina says
I’ve made these in the oven before and the bacon was cooked but very soft, at least on the bottom because of it soaking in its juices. I want to make these for work tomorrow. There are 7 of us so I’d like to make enough for everyone to at least have a few. My question is if I throw a bunch in at once to save time will my bacon be soft? Should I just make a couple batches? If I do a couple batches can I do them on high to cut my cooking time?
Heidi says
I put them on metal cooling racks while cooking them and partially pre-cook the bacon. Crispy all around.
Bethany says
Could you do this with water chestnuts instead of smokies?
Heidi says
Hi Bethany ~ I’ve never tried with water chestnuts… but if you do, let us know how it turns out!
Carol Harrington says
I would love to try some of these wonderful sounding recipes but I WANT the colorful crockpot so I can take it to friend’s homes. Where do I get this? This is my second time to ask and I am anxious.
Carol Harringon
Heidi says
Hi Carol ~ I found the crock pot at Target. Isn’t it SO cute?? 🙂
sarah says
Will the bacon cook better or get more crunchy if you cook it in the oven for a little bit first?
Amanda says
Do I need to use dark or light brown sugar?
Robyn Davis says
As I mentioned, I’ve made these several times and it doesn’t matter the color of brown sugar. It turns out crazy delicious either way. 🙂
Jmiller says
Can I cut th bacon in half instead of thirds to have more bacon? Will it cook??
Robyn Davis says
I’ve made these several times and you can use half cut bacon but the third cut wraps perfectly around the sausage and makes them bite size.
Tammy says
Have you ever added coca cola to this recipe? My mother-in-law remembers adding a can of coke.
Heidi says
Hi Tammy ~ I haven’t tried Coke with this recipe, but used it on this Kielbasa and it was AMAZING!
You can find that recipe here: https://thefrugalgirls.com/?p=164672
Vige says
Do I need to add any water?
Heidi says
No water is necessary ~ the bacon and smokies will cook in the juices released. Hope that helps! 😉
Kelly says
Do you leave the cover off while cooking or on?
fyddo says
that wrapped bacon was amazing, i just finished it today and let me tell ya that was amazing in every way possible thank you for sharing and highly recommended, go bacon !!!! 🙂
Iris says
Can these be cooked on low in a 2 qt crock pot for a longer period of time?
Donna Keech says
At some point do you drain all that grease? I’ve made these in the oven before
Heidi says
Hi Donna ~ you can serve directly from the Crockpot, or you can drain and transfer the smokies to a plate for serving without the juices. Hope that helps! 😉
Teri says
Can I double or triple this recipe??
Heidi says
Hi Teri ~ yes… you can definitely make the recipe larger, however they cook best if each smokie is touching the bottom of the crockpot while cooking in one layer, so it will just depend on the size of your slow cooker. Hope that helps!
Robyn Davis says
I’ve tripled this and had the smokies almost fill the crockpot. They do taste better when they touch the bottom but they are still crazy delicious if they don’t.
