Living in Arizona, my long hair can get pretty dry and damaged from the heat and sun.  Once I realized how easy it was to make your own Coconut Oil Hair Conditioner, I had to share this tip with you!  I love how well this coconut oil hair mask with argan oil works… it leaves your hair moisturized, silky smooth, and SO soft!

Knowing exactly what natural ingredients are being used in your deep hair conditioner is always nice.  Plus, you won’t believe how much money you’ll save by making your own hair treatment with this easy Beauty Hack!

You can use it as a daytime conditioning hair treatment or as a leave-in overnight conditioner to bring back some health to your hair.

So are you ready to make your all-natural nourishing hair mask?  It’s SO easy!  Here’s what you’ll do…

How Often Should You Put Coconut Oil In Your Hair?

When it comes to this hair mask and deep conditioning treatment, I like to use it at least once per month, but sometimes up to once per week.  Sometimes I apply it on the weekend, when I have a little extra time in my schedule. 🙂

What Does Coconut Oil Do For Your Hair?

Coconut Oil is one of my favorite oils to use in DIY Beauty Hacks.  When it comes to hair, here are just a few things coconut oil may help with…

  • Moisturizing your hair by penetrating the hair shaft
  • Smoothing split ends
  • Adding shine to hair
  • Detangling your hair
  • Helping prevent brittle hair
  • Adding body and volume

What Does Argan Oil Do For Your Hair?

Argan Oil, which comes from the seeds of the Argan tree, is another fabulous oil to use in beauty treatments… and is part of my daily Skincare Routine!  When it comes to hair, here are a few things that argan oil can help with…

  • Nourishing dry and damaged hair
  • Conditioning split ends
  • Helping prevent breakage

Coconut Oil Hair Mask – Supplies Needed:

  • 2 tbsp. Coconut Oil
  • 10 drops Argan Oil
  • Scrunchie, Hair Clips, or Hair Ties {if you’ll be doing a daytime mask}
  • Soft Reusable Shower Cap {if you’ll be doing an overnight mask}

How to Make Coconut Oil Hair Conditioner Mask:

  • Add coconut oil to mini mason jar or small dish.
  • Then add 10 drops of argan oil into the jar, and stir well.
  • For shorter hair, recipe can be cut in half.

How to Use a Coconut Oil Hair Mask:

  1. Before you head to bed… scoop or pour the coconut oil treatment into your hands, then apply to your hair, working in sections to make sure you get good all-around coverage.  I usually skip the roots to avoid a greasy look… and focus more on the rest of my hair.  {Note: Coconut oil melts at around 78 degrees, so if your home is warm, it will be more of a liquid.  If it is melted and you would like it thicker when you apply it, just pop it in the refrigerator for a bit to let it solidify again.}
  2. For a Daytime Treatment: After applying the mask, wrap your hair up into a bun with a scrunchie, or clip it up, then let the mask soak in for a minimum of 4 hours before washing it out.  Longer is fine, too!
  3. For an Overnight Treatment: Twist your hair up, cover it with a soft reusable shower cap, head to bed, and wash it out the next morning in the shower.  That’s right… it will do all the magic for you while you sleep!
  4. Note: When washing your hair after this mask, you may need to shampoo twice to get it all out.  Then style as normal, and get ready for a fabulous hair day!

    I use it to cleanse my face. I take a small amount, the size of a dime, and rub it between my hands to liquefy it. I gently rub it all over my face. I run a washcloth under very hot water and hold it over my face to steam it for a few minutes. Then I use the washcloth to gently wipe it off of my face. Lastly rinse with cool water. The coconut oil leaves your face so soft but not greasy. I never need to use moisturizer any more. If my face ever feels dry I rub a minuscule amount of coconut oil over my face before I put on my make up. Oil removes oil so my skin never feels greasy and my skin tone has improved greatly. My son tried this and his acne got better too. If I feel the need for a scrub I just mix in a little baking soda and cleanse the same way.

    I’ve used coconut oil just on the tips of my hair , all of my hair & even my roots .
    All of my tries were successful .
    Really like to saturate my hair from roots to ends. I do this at nite , I sleep on a designated pillow . I pin my hair on top of my head it works for me.
    Next morning doesn’t matter what shampoo ( I have suave with Maraccan oil , bob shampoo , color treated shampoo ) I use it. I rinse my hair first then shampoo my hair no conditioner . Then after I don’t squeeze my hair I tap it to get most of the liquid out. Very important not to over work your hair with towel or twisting it.
    After words I spray a melelueca spray from bumble and bumble & a rosemary spray also from the same company .
    My personal opinion is it works for me and I color my hair with a non amonia color .

    I tried it on my baby’s bad eczema after all the prescription creams and ointments failed to do anything for him. It was the best thing ever! It cleared up within a few days and now I use it as a lotion on him after his bath (when he used to get the worst flare ups) and for the last 2 months or so he hasn’t had a single patch anywhere. I also use it on my dry hands and cuticles and on the ends of my hair. It’s fabulous stuff and a jar of it lasts forever!

    I have recently discovered coconut oil and I love it! My favorite use is for shaving my legs. I rub it on and my legs get a nice close shave and my skin is protected from nicks. I also make a sugar scrub to use in the shower.
