Lotion Bar Ingredients

  • 1 cup Shea Butter
  • 1 cup Coconut Oil
  • and 1 cup Beeswax Pellets
  • Optional: 25 drops Essential Oils for a light scent (like Lavender, Jasmine, etc.)
  • Makes approx. 8 lotion bars (using 3.5 oz. – 4 oz. Silicone Molds), or more if using smaller molds

How to Make Lotion Bars

Add Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Beeswax Pellets to a 4-cup microwave safe glass measuring cup (or microwave safe glass mixing bowl), and microwave for 1 minute, remove from microwave and stir.

Then continue microwaving in 30 second increments, stirring after each time until all ingredients have melted. (It usually takes me about 3 minutes total.)

Once all ingredients have completely melted, give it a quick stir, and if using essential oils, add them now and stir again.

Carefully transfer and pour mixture into silicone molds or flexible soap molds. If using a glass measuring cup, it should pour out easily. If using a bowl, you can use a spatula to help.

Allow lotion mixture to dry completely overnight, allowing it plenty of time to harden up. If necessary… place your molds into the refrigerator to speed up the process.

The next morning, simply pop your lotion bars out from their molds, and you’re done!

Keep some for yourself, and wrap some up to give away as pretty little homemade gifts! I love wrapping a little twine bow around the ones I’m giving away as gifts.

How to Use Homemade Lotion Bars

How to Store Lotion Bars

Wide mouth mason jars make a wonderful container for storing lotion bars!

Keep in mind… lotion bars exposed to high heat can melt, so store your lotion bars in a cool, dark, dry location… out of direct sunlight.
