Marcy says
Can one use boneless chicken thighs instead of the drumsticks ?
Would the cooking time change?
The ranch buffalo drumstick recipe is what I’m referring to.
Thanks.
Heidi says
Hi Marcy ~ absolutely… 6 – 8 fresh {or thawed} boneless chicken thighs can be substituted for the drumsticks. The cook time is usually pretty similar, but just keep an eye on them. If using larger thighs you may need to lengthen the time a bit. ENJOY! 🙂
Joe Haney says
We had this for the first time tonight, awesome. Bringing this to a tailgate in two weeks.
Heidi says
So glad to hear you liked them, Joe! Aren’t they just packed with flavor? And I agree… perfect for your tailgate menu!
D says
Does the skin get crispy?
Heidi says
Hi D ~ no… the skin does not get crispy. 😉
Kimberley says
I was in a hurry and scatterbrain mama accidently put the hot sauce in at the beginning. Is that bad?
Heidi says
Hi Kimberley ~ that will still work, it will just result in a much more watered-down sauce. I like to toss out the juices to keep the sauce more flavorful and thick, but adding it at the beginning will work, too. 🙂
Sharaye says
I’m sooo tempted to try this but what would be a good side dish ???
Heidi says
Hi Sharaye ~ potatoes are a delicious side dish with these drumsticks… check out this BIG List of Yummy Potato Side Dishes and pick your favorite… 😉

Taylor says

Heidi says
Yay ~ so glad you loved it, Taylor! The tenderloins sound like a delicious addition, too! 😉
Meghan says
Could I maybe do this on low for 6 hours?
Heidi says
Hi Meghan ~ absolutely! All crockpots vary slightly, so just keep an eye on them to see when they’re done. ENJOY! 😉
Misty says
If you cook them on low, when do you recommend adding the ranch packet/buffalo sauce mixture? And would you still cook it an extra 30 minutes?
Heidi says
Hi Misty ~ I would remove the juices and add the sauce for the last hour or so. Hope that helps! 😉
Olivia says

Maybe I’m just a newbie, but do you put the drumsticks in anything while they cook in the crockpot for three hours? Water? Anything? Or just toss em in?
Heidi says
Hi Jessica ~ you’ll just toss the drumsticks inn ~ nothing else is required… the chicken will end up cooking in its own juices. Hope that helps!
