Can I cook chilli con carne in the crockpot with the foil wrapped potatoes in there also? Thanks
I would opt to cook those separately.
If you start this in the morning and leave for the day…. will the potatoes burn if not rotated half way through?
followed this recipe last weekend and had them baking while my family and I were at a waterpark. I never turned them (and actually overcooked them by 30 minutes) and they came out wonderfully soft.
I’m so glad to hear that!
Okay, I go camping with my horses, and usually there are 5 to 10 trailers with us… That is a lot of people to feed!! So when you ride 20 miles in a day usually us girls are in no mood to cook when we get back to camp, crockpot cooking saves us a lot of time and trouble. I have been cooking potatoes like this at home and at camp and they turn out perfect every time!!! I have never put oil on them or salt but I am not old to try something new!! LOL Thank you for suggesting this great idea ….,
Aren’t they SO easy to make this way? 🙂 They would be so satisfying camping, too!
Always good to cook in crock pot pop in at lunch then ready when home ☺…. but honestly i’m hooked on microwave about 20 mins each side WaLa done and ready to quickly serve
That works, too!
#Brilliant!! Putting something in my crock pot without water is a little scary, but I’m game to give it a try!! Can’t wait to give it a go!!! My website above is my YouTube channel, definitely going to blog/vlog about this one. I’ll be sure to give a shoutout to TheFrugalGirls.com!! 🙂 I love #Pinterest recipes!! Do you guys have an absolute, hands down favorite “easy” recipe?
(Had to repost this because I hit the button before I was finished…lol #BusyMomma!!)
I bake my potatoes in the Crock Pot but I add an inch of water in the bottom and I do not wrap my potatoes. They turn out very good. I also bake them na*ed the same way in a 5 quart covered pot. Turns out great.
Great tip – thanks for sharing!
Aww… thank you!
this is the only way I will make mine now! SO MUCH better than microwaved and far quicker than doing in the oven. After rinsing mine, I sprinkle with kosher salt too and then wrap up. Even better, cut any leftovers up and use next day for a soup or something since they are already cooked 🙂
That’s a delicious tip – thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait to try looking forward to it !
They’re SO easy… ENJOY!
I usually slice my Sweet Potatoes in half lengthwise before wrapping in aluminum foil to cut down on the time needed to bake. This helps when trying to time with other foods to have everything ready at the same time.
That’s a great idea… thanks for sharing!
Do you put any water in the bottom of crockpot or just dry????
Hi Carleen ~ no water is added to the bottom of the crockpot. Hope that helps!
Great crockpot tips. I really appreciate them.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the easy crockpot recipes!
