JoAnn’s has cheese cloth in the Notions dept.(pins, snaps, needles). I’ve also seen it at the dollar store and grocery stores around the holidays(used for basting turkeys)
I LOVE hot cider!
Marlene Adams says
cheese cloth can be found in any paint dept. (like Home Depot, Lowes, Ace) and most craft stores. Walmart carries it in their paint dept. too. Hope this helps
Kelly says
Have you tried canning the cider? I’m curious how long the shelf life is if I make a large batch and want to save it for drinking throughout the year.
Lori says
Yes, you can leave the large pieces floating for a while, but the oranges will get bitter after TOO long. I use a stainless steel tea ball infuser for “small stuff” to replace cheesecloth.
Mippy says
Oooh my haaaannah! Love it! 🙂
Laura says
Can I leave the cinnamon sticks free-floating in the crockpot and stick the whole cloves into the organge wedges if I do not have cheesecloth?
Shawn M says
If you don’t have cheesecloth on hand, you probably do have a coffee filter. Just wrap in the filter and tie. No need to run out to buy anything special.

Heidi @ The Frugal Girls! says
Whitney ~ I've honestly never tried this recipe with apple juice instead of apple cider.
I think the main difference would be that it would turn out with a more mild and less intense flavor. 🙂

Whitney says
Could you use regular apple juice instead of apple cider? How do you think that would turn out?
Jenna says
If you like the Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice….they use plain apple juice. I have one in a target near me and asked them the recipe and have seen them walk to the apple juice isle in target when they are out to make it. It’s supposed to be made with apple cider. Anyway, there isn’t much difference in taste. I would say try it since apple juice isn’t seasonal and you can make all year round. If you don’t like it then you’ll know for next time. I think it will still be drinkable 😉
I used regular apple juice and it worked great. says
I love this in winter, at night before going to bed.
