Kim writes: “Love this!  Excellent Summer cobbler!!”

You see… growing up in Washington state, we grew lots and lots of blackberries in our backyard.  When I was sent out to pick them, I mostly just popped them straight in my mouth, and returned with pretty much empty containers.

Oops! 😉

My blackberry obsession still runs strong. That’s why I’m always looking for an excuse to incorporate sweet and tart blackberries into dessert!

Like this heavenly dump cake. It adds gloriously sassy blackberries to a rich and buttery crumble topping.

YUM!!

Plus, with just 3 ingredients, this blackberry dessert is about as easy as them come.

Then, this dreamy dessert is made extra simple by using your slow cooker.  Just dump it in the Crockpot and walk away!

  1. Tina hedden says:

Can I modify pie filling with fresh fruit for the dump cakes?

  2. Christie says:

That sounds so delicious Heidi! I would love to try this one day! I love how you can easily make this in a crockpot.

    1. Heidi says:

Thanks, Christie… and you’re right ~ slow cooker desserts are such a cinch to make!

  3. Lindsay says:

    Anyone tried doubling this recipe?

  4. Shannon says:

Can you use frozen fruits instead of canned pie filling?

    1. Heidi says:

I honestly haven’t tried, Shannon… but if you do, let me know how it turns out!

  5. Samara says:

Can you make these without using the Crock-Pot? I would like to know if there is a way to just use the oven.

  6. Laresa says:

What size crock pot do you normally use for these dump cakes?

    1. Heidi says:

Hi Laresa ~ I usually use anywhere from a 4.5 qt. oval up to a 6 qt. oval. Hope that helps! 🙂

    2. Norma Martin says:

can you use any type of canned fruit. I was thinking of using mixed berry.Do you think that would work?

      1. Heidi Miller says:

You can swap the pie filling for any other flavor of pie filling you would like.

  7. Cathy says:

How can this recipe be cut in half, without wasting half a box of cake mix? There are just two of us in the house, and when we want to ‘splurge’, on a dessert, we don’t want to eat a whole cake. It looks very easy, but it would mold before we could or would eat up the complete dessert.

    1. Josephine b says:

There are only two of us as well, so I put the remaining pudding in the freezer for another day then just reheat it in the microwave.

  8. Julie says:

Do you have one with gluten free cake mix?

    1. Heidi says:

Hi Julie ~ I haven’t tried this with Gluten Free Cake Mix yet, but if you do… let us know how it turns out!

  9. Chelsy Collier says:

    Can’t wait to try them

    1. Heidi says:

They’re SO easy and delicious, Chelsy… enjoy!! 😉

  10. Joy Ryan says:
