My Thrifty Grocery Shopping Trips this Week

This week I was able to score some great deals at the grocery stores!

We’ve been eating through some meat in our freezer, and were still stocked from our last trip to the bread outlet.  We’ve also been snacking on a whole lot of grapefruit from our back yard!

At Wal-Mart, I was able to get 4 Free Packages of Kotex, a Free Box of Smucker’s Uncrustables {back from the deal I posted about in September}, and a box of 47 cent Puffs ~ using my $1/1 Puffs Coupon that was previously available by mail.

Total Spent = 47 cents!

At Kroger {Fry’s}, I was able to take advantage of the Mega Sale they were having.  I matched manufacturer coupons with sale prices to get some great deals!  I used Chex Mix Coupons, Cheerio Mix Coupons, Lunchables Coupons, Kraft Cheese Coupons, and more to snag some thrifty deals.  I’ll be putting some of that Ro-Tel to use this weekend with my favorite Simply Salsa Recipe!

Total Spent = $10.09!

At Albertsons, I grabbed two gallons of milk ~ each gallon was just 99 cents after an in-store coupon!  We use milk every day in our Green Smoothies ~ Yum!

Total Spent = $1.98!

How did you do on your grocery shopping this week? Did you stretch your dollars and find some thrifty deals?  Leave a comment ~ I’d love to hear!

I have not had to go to the grocery a whole lot because I am Month 2 of Eating from the Pantry. However, I did go get some oranges at the grocery and found ziploc bags on sale for 49 cents a box. Got 24 boxes for about $12. Got up to the checkout and ended up getting $16 of catalinas. I had to go back and get more. So I have about 90 boxes of ziploc bags (freezer gallon, freezer quart, storage gallon, storage quart). I know that seems like alot, but I bought 60 boxes for $5.66. Can’t pass this deal up. I will more than likely be going back to get more. The good thing about them, they don’t expire and will never go bad on me.

Great thing about this whole deal, my husband found this deal!!!! Thankful for my husband and how he is teaming up with me to save money.

Stephanie, where did you find the ziploc bags? That’s a GREAT deal!!

I think we are all dying to here where you got this great deal from!

      • Stephanie says:

It is a locally owned grocery store called Schnucks. The stores are located in southwestern part of Indiana.

I hope some of you are part of this blog that can travel to get this deal because I will have enough ziplocs for YEARS!!!!! Many can go to Kroger’s to find great deals, however I have to travel 45 minutes to get there.

  6. Great Job!! I got lots of Cheese this week too!

Okay, I am still new to this game and I printed off tons of coupons and purchased cherrios, and chex mix from my kroger store and I speny $1.69 (after coupon) a bag for cheese purchased 2 and I did the chex mix deals and cherrios. But again I spent nearly $2 a bag, after coupons. Not sure how we bought the same items and you got amazing deals. You spent the total I had for four items and you got all that for $10.09. Do you stack coupons? I thought at Kroger there was 1 coupon per item. Is that true or do you have information you could share with me? I sadly spent $100 and felt like I got nothing :( . I had $40 in coupons but again is spent $100 after coupons. Please help me save money….

      Hi Liz,

Hmm… well, the Chex Mix and Cheerios Mix at my store were priced at $1.50 for the Mega Sale. I had the 50 cent off coupons, which doubled to take $1.00 off. Not all Kroger affiliate stores double coupons, but mine does. So… if I use a 50 cent coupon, they take $1.00 off. That ended up making each of the Chex Mix and Cheerio Mixes 50 cents a bag for me. You may want to call your local store or ask next time you’re in if they double coupons.

If you have a Kroger coupon, you can also use a manufacturer’s coupon with that item to stack coupons. However, I personally don’t seem to come across many Kroger store coupons.

Couponing and saving big at the grocery store is definitely a learning process, so hang in there ~ it will get easier with time. :) I’m impressed ~ you’re off to a great start… way to go with $40.00 in coupons!!

Also, don’t forget ~ to save even more at Kroger, you can also load e-coupons to your grocery store’s shopper card from Cellfire.com and Shortcuts.com.
