Looking for a simple way to sneak more fruits and veggies into your day? This nutrient dense mixed Berry Banana Smoothie is packed with berries, bananas, carrots… and even spinach. And the wildest part… it tastes AMAZING!!

You and Mr. Blender are about to become very close friends, and drinking your fruit is going to taste so good!
Seriously, this berry banana smoothie is one of the easiest ways to sneak more fruits (and vegetables) into your daily diet!
Andi writes: “Thanks for the recipe. I just tried it and I love it. My husband drank it all and then I told him it had spinach – he was very surprised.”
Packed with fruits and veggies galore, this refreshing smoothie is your hot ticket to feel good refreshment!
I’ve personally been blending it on repeat for 15 years!
I admit it… I’m hooked on smoothies packed with Berries and Spinach! (I guess there are worse problems to be had.) And I pinky promise you can’t taste the spinach!
Being that this has some spinach inside, it’s technically a green smoothie. However, I just can’t drink green drinks.
So as long as you add some pretty colored fruit (especially those gorgeous blueberries), it won’t turn out green.
Let’s just say it looks a little more appetizing, and a little easier on the eyes. 🙂
You know… when it’s more of a pink/purple/blue shade!
What you’ll end up with is a nutrient rich banana spinach berry smoothie that is an ideal snack or meal alternative. I personally have it for lunch every… single… weekday! But it would also work fantastic as a healthy grab-and-go breakfast.
If you want to give it a protein boost, you can even add a little collagen or whey protein to your smoothie, like I do with my Post Workout Fruit Smoothie. I personally do this and have found it to be a great way to sneak more protein into my day!
So try something new today that you’ll thank yourself for later.
It will take just 5 minutes…

Now here’s my little secret.
If you’re making this blueberry spinach shake for someone else for the very first time… you may want to wait until they’ve had it and then raved about how much they enjoy it before you share the secret with them.
That they actually just drank spinach!
Are Berry Banana Smoothies Good for You?
They sure are, and they’re also a great healthy meal alternative for breakfast and lunch.
This blueberry spinach smoothie provides you with a genius way to stuff more raw veggies and fruit into your day with hardly any effort.
If you want to make the smoothie even healthier, you can simply adjust the ingredients to your preference to create the perfect customized smoothie recipe for your taste buds!
Is It Okay To Drink A Berry Banana Smoothie Everyday?
I personally make this smoothie 5 times during the week for lunch, and I’ve been doing the same thing since 2009! So it’s definitely worked for me!
Then on the weekend, I like to change up my meal plan to make sure I am getting other fruits and vegetables not already included in this green berry smoothie.
Is Spinach Good For A Protein Shake?
You can easily use this berry spinach smoothie base to sneak more protein into your day!
In fact, this smoothie has morphed over time into a really good natural pre workout drink for my husband.
Everyday, my hubby adds plain whey protein to his portion of this berry banana spinach smoothie, just before or after his workout. And for me… I add in some collagen powder to mine for a boost of protein.

- Blueberries – I used frozen blueberries to ensure the smoothie is crisp and cold.
- Strawberries – I also used frozen strawberries.

Blending up this berry banana smoothie is as simple as can be!
Here’s what you’ll do…
1. Blend your spinach, milk and orange juice together first. I use the “liquify” option on my blender.
2. Once the spinach has blended well, add all other ingredients (except protein powder) and blend until well combined, and the consistency is not too thick or too runny.
3. If you want to add protein powder, add this right at the end and blend for just a few seconds, or until it is well mixed into the smoothie.
4. Finally, pour your berry banana smoothie into a glass or mason jar, and you’re done! Easy peasy!!

Ingredients
- 2 cups Fresh Spinach
- 1 medium Banana
- 2 cups Orange Juice
- 2 cups Non-Fat Milk, 2% Milk can be substituted.
- 8 large Frozen Strawberries
- ½ cup Frozen Blueberries
- 8 oz. Yogurt, (I like to use Boysenberry, Blackberry, Strawberry, or Raspberry)
- 3 Baby Carrots
- 1 tsp. White Granulated Sugar, OPTIONAL
Instructions
- Gather your berry banana smoothie ingredients.
- Blend spinach, orange juice and milk together first.

- Once the spinach has blended well, add all other ingredients and blend until well combined.
- I like to use frozen fruit, but if using fresh fruit, you can add in some ice cubes to create more of an ice cold smoothie consistency.
- *Next, add any optional Protein Powder and blend on a low speed for 10-20 seconds, or until well combined.
- Finally, pour your berry banana smoothie into glasses, and enjoy right away to ensure it's cold and doesn't separate.

Notes
- *Smoothie Consistency: Your smoothie will have a better consistency if you don’t over blend the protein powder.
- Serving Adjustments: If making for two, just cut the recipe in half.
