Waking up to an alarm clock is no picnic, but this bacon and egg casserole will try its very best to make sure you forget all about it.

It’s eggs-tra cheesy, and each bite is simply bursting with wonderful bits of crispy, crackly bacon!

Just pop it in the oven as soon as you get up. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy the heavenly aroma as it bakes.

But don’t expect to have the kitchen all to yourself for long. At least not when this bacon egg and cheese casserole pops out of the oven all bubbly browned and begging for attention!

You won’t believe how easy it is to prepare this legendary overnight breakfast casserole with eggs and bacon!

Just gather these ingredients, and one of your new favorite Breakfast Bacon Recipes will be ready to go…

  • Bacon – cooked until crispy. Be sure to try my no-mess trick for How To Bake Bacon In Oven.
  • Eggs – see my trick for How To Freeze Eggs for Later Use.
  • White Bread – it will soak up all of the savory flavors while adding texture to your bacon egg and cheese casserole.
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese – freshly shredded or a bag of shredded cheese will both work.
  • Milk – 2% or Whole Milk will give you the richest results, but I’ve also made this with skim milk and it was still delicious!
  • Half & Half – to add even more creamy rich flavor.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – to add a deep hint of savory flavor and balance the richness.
  • Ground Mustard – to add even more flavor depth and cut the richness.
  • Salt – to bring out ALL of the savory flavors!
  • Black Pepper – to add just a hint of warmth to every bite.
  • Nutmeg – to add a warm, sweet hint of depth to your cozy bacon egg casserole.

You’ll also need a 9×13 baking dish to prepare this recipe for egg casserole with bacon.

How to Make a Bacon Egg Casserole

You’ll start by putting this bacon breakfast bake together the night before.

1. First you’ll prepare your bacon and trim the crusts off your white bread.

2. Then you’ll carefully place the bread in the bottom of your non-stick sprayed casserole dish.

3. Lastly, you’ll pour in the whisked mixture of your remaining ingredients, before placing aluminum foil over your baking dish and placing it in the refrigerator overnight.

4. Then the next morning… you can just roll out of bed and pop your bacon egg and cheese casserole right in the oven!

Doubling Recipe Tip

Ingredients 

  • 16 ounces Bacon, (cooked until crispy)
  • 6 slices White Bread
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 1.5 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1.25 cups Milk
  • 3/4 cup Half & Half
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Ground Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/8 tsp Nutmeg

Instructions 

  • Gather your ingredients.

  • Cook bacon until crispy, then chop after it has cooled.

  • Spray 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Trim crusts from bread slices, discard crusts, and place bread in baking dish.
  • Add eggs to large mixing bowl, and whisk until beaten.
  • Then add Bacon, Milk, Half & Half, Cheese, Worcestershire Sauce, Ground Mustard, Salt, Pepper, and Nutmeg to bowl, and stir with large spoon until well combined.
  • Pour mixture over bread slices in casserole dish.
  • Cover casserole dish with aluminum foil, and place in refrigerator overnight.
  • The next morning when you're ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Remove foil from casserole dish, and bake uncovered for 45 – 55 minutes, or until done.

  • Slice into squares, serve warm, and ENJOY!
