  • Chocolate Cake Mix – I used a Betty Crocker chocolate fudge cake mix for these chocolate whopper cookies.
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Whoppers – The original malted chocolate hard candy.
  • Melted Butter – Canola or Vegetable oil can be substituted.
  • Eggs

What’s Inside The Whopper Candy?

Whopper candies are candy balls made of a delicious crunchy malted milk and then covered in a wonderful chocolate coating.

How to Make Whopper Cookies

It’s actually SO simple to make these malted chocolate chip cookies jam-packed with your favorite whoppers candies!

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. Chop your Whoppers.

2. Mix Cake Mix, Butter & Eggs in large bowl.

3. Stir in some Chocolate Chips & Whoppers.

4. Chill dough in refrigerator.

5. Form dough into balls.

6. Press more chocolate chips & Whopper pieces on top of dough balls.

7. Then bake your old fashioned whopper cookies in the oven.

8. Cool, Serve & DEVOUR!

Ingredients 

  • 13.25 ounces Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix , (if using a 15.25 oz. box, increase butter to 1/2 cup)
  • 1/3 cup Melted Butter, (Vegetable or Canola Oil can be substituted)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 3 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips (for cookie dough)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips (for topping)
  • 40 Whoppers

Instructions 

  • Gather your ingredients.
    Chocolate fudge cake mix, Whoppers, and chocolate chips.
  • Cut each Whopper candy into 4 pieces, and set about 80 pieces aside for later to use when topping the cookie dough balls.
  • Combine Cake Mix, Melted Butter (or oil), and Eggs in large mixing bowl, and mix with hand mixer or stand mixer until well combined.

  • Then add 3 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips, remaining pieces of Whoppers, and any Whopper powder or dust from chopping into cookie dough, and stir until well combined.
  • Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • After dough has chilled, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll cookie dough into 1 1/2 tablespoon sized rounded balls and transfer to cookie sheet.
  • Then place about 3 whopper pieces on top of each cookie dough ball as well as several mini chocolate chips. (This will give the finished cookies a pretty look on top.)
  • Bake on center oven rack for 7 – 13 minutes, or until done. (Note: Bake on the shorter end of the time range for non-stick cookie sheets & longer end of the time range for aluminum cookie sheets.)
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer cookies to wire racks to finish cooling, and ENJOY!

Notes

  • Butter: When it comes to cake mix cookies, salted or unsalted butter can be used, as the cake mix will have a little salt in it. However, I’ve found that salted butter will result in superior flavor.
