        Hi Kristen ~ it’s honestly just a choice of personal preference. Oil can add a little more moisture into a cookie, while butter will provide a richer flavor. I’ve made them both ways, and they really are delicious both ways. 🙂

      Help! I want to make these for a Church Bazaar next month and the recipes say to stir in the M & M’s. How do you keep them separate if they are in a jar?

        Hi Melissa ~ if making these as a gift in a jar, here are the instructions to do that:

        https://thefrugalgirls.com/2013/11/christmas-cookie-mix-in-a-jar-recipe.html

        After filling up the jar, attach a label with these instructions:

        Beat together 2 eggs and 1/2 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil in medium bowl.
        Pour in entire contents of jar, and stir well with spoon. {both cake mix and m&m’s will be stirred in together}
        Chill dough for 20 minutes in the refrigerator prior to baking.
        Then, drop onto ungreased non-stick cookie sheet in rounded balls.
        Bake for approx. 8 – 9 minutes {or until done} at 350 degrees.

        Does that help?
