- 13.25 ounces Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix, (if using a 15.25 oz. box, increase butter to 1/2 cup)
- 1/3 cup Melted Butter, (Vegetable or Canola Oil can be substituted)
- 2 large Eggs
- 9 1/2 ounces Snack Size Kit Kats, (chopped)
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients.

- Combine Cake Mix, Melted Butter (or oil), and Eggs in large mixing bowl, and mix with hand mixer or stand mixer until well combined.

- Unwrap Kit Kat Snack Size bars and chop into small pieces.
- Stir chopped Kit Kat pieces into dough with large wooden spoon.
- Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.
- After dough has chilled, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll cookie dough into 1 1/2 tablespoon sized rounded balls and transfer to cookie sheet.
- Bake on center oven rack for 7 – 13 minutes, or until done. (Note: Bake on the shorter end of the time range for non-stick cookie sheets & longer end of the time range for aluminum cookie sheets.)
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes.

- Transfer cookies to wire racks to finish cooling, and ENJOY!
Notes
- Butter: When it comes to Cake Mix Cookies, salted or unsalted butter can be used, as the cake mix will have a little salt in it. However, I’ve found that salted butter will result in superior flavor.

Can these be frozen?
They sure can! You can learn how to freeze cake mix cookies here:

does it have to be Betty Crocker’s? super moist cake mix or can you use an old brand name like Giants or Weis market or Walmarts?
Hi Barbara ~ you can substitute other brands, but you’ll want to pay attention to the ounce size on the box. Betty Crocker recently reduced their cake mix box from 15.25 oz. to 13.25 oz. If using a 13.25 oz. box, you’ll want to use 1/3 cup melted butter or oil, but if using a larger 15.25 oz. box, you’ll need to increase that to 1/2 cup melted butter or oil. Hope that helps! The two eggs will stay the same, regardless the size of box. Hope that helps! 🙂
Can you substitute melted butter for oil?
Hi Jessica… yes you can, and it’s delicious! Just use 1/2 cup melted butter. 🙂
Making the Kit Kat cookie. Looks so good! My question is – after you refrigerate the dough for an hour should it still be sticky? Should I be able to roll in a ball? Or just spoon onto cookie sheet??
Hi Lena ~ the dough will still be somewhat sticky because of the oil, but you should be able to roll it into balls just fine after refrigerating. Sometimes I pop the dough back into the refrigerator while the cookies are baking, so it can remain chilled until I’m ready to use it again. Hope that helps… and enjoy your cookies! 🙂
What a delight for chocolate lovers!
Thanks, Rebecca… they really are a chocoholics dream come true! 🙂
Only 4 ingredients?! Wow! IT looks so good and I love kit kat so much. One of my fave chocolate bars.
Aren’t Kit Kats SO good, Christie? They really make the perfect addition to chocolate cookies! 🙂
