Soft Ginger Snap Cookies Ingredients

It takes just a few simple ingredients to make the BEST soft baked ginger snap cookies!

All Purpose Flour
Baking Soda
Cinnamon
Sugar
Cloves
Ginger
Molasses
Butter
Egg

How to Make Ginger Snaps

It’s actually SO easy to make the best old fashioned ginger snap cookies at home!

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. Mix your ingredients with hand mixer or stand mixer.

2. Then cover your dough and transfer it to the refrigerator to chill.

3. After dough has chilled, form dough into small balls.

4. Roll dough balls in sugar.

5. Then bake in the oven.

6. Cool on wire racks after coming out of the oven.

Then all that’s left to do is enjoy & DEVOUR!

Can I Freeze Ginger Snap Cookie Dough?

Yes, you sure can!

I’ve done this when prepping ahead of time for Christmas, then pulled them out to bake on Christmas Eve!

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. Prepare your cookie dough balls per recipe instructions.

2. Roll in sugar.

3. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

4. Flash freeze dough balls for 2 hours in freezer.

5. Transfer balls to a gallon sized freezer bag.

6. Freeze up to 2 months.

7. When ready to bake: remove balls from freezer, allow to come to thaw slightly as oven preheats, bake on a nonstick cookie sheet per instructions, add 1 – 2 minutes of baking time if necessary.

Easy Ginger Snap Recipe

This easy Ginger Snap Recipe delivers pure cookie deliciousness with each bite!

Ingredients

2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1 cup Sugar (3/4 cup for dough, 1/4 cup for rolling)
1 teaspoon Ground Cloves
1 teaspoon Ginger
¼ cup Molasses
1 cup Butter softened to room temperature
1 large Egg

Instructions

In large bowl, cream together Butter, Egg and Molasses.
In separate medium bowl, whisk together Flour, 3/4 cup Sugar, Baking Soda, Cinnamon, Cloves and Ginger.
Gradually pour dry mixture into wet mixture while beating together until well combined.
Reserve remaining 1/4 cup Sugar in small bowl and set aside for later.
Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.
After dough has finished chilling, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll dough into small 1″ size balls, roll dough balls in remaining sugar until fully coated, then drop onto nonstick cookie sheets (approx. 3″ apart)
Bake 7 – 9 minutes, or until done.
Allow cookies to cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling. ENJOY!
