Ingredients 

  • 2 2/3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated (White) Sugar
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 tsp. Almond Extract
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar (for rolling)

Instructions 

  • Gather your ingredients.
    Sugar cookie ingredients including butter, eggs, and cream of tartar.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Add 1/2 cup Sugar to small bowl, and set aside for later. (this will be used to roll cookie dough balls before baking)
  • Add Flour, Cream of Tartar, Baking Soda and Salt to large bowl, and whisk together until well combined. Set aside for later.
  • In separate large mixing bowl, cream together Butter and 1 1/2 cups Sugar for 1 – 2 minutes using hand mixer or stand mixer with paddle attachment.
  • Then add Eggs and Almond Extract, and continue mixing.
  • Finally, add Flour mixture, and continue to mix until well combined.
  • Roll dough into 1 tbsp. size balls, then roll each ball in bowl of sugar.

  • Place on a parchment lined nonstick cookie sheet, several inches apart.

  • Bake for 7 – 9 minutes, or until done.

  • Allow cookies to cool on cookie for 2 minutes before transferring to wire rack to finish cooling.
