What Your Frugal Friends Are Saying About This Ice Pack:

Patti writes: “My hubby just had knee replacement surgery. The home health care nurse made the ice paks exactly like you described and I keep 2 sets in the freezer so I can switch them out. Ā That “gel/slush” really gets into all the nooks & crannies of any surgical or owie site. Thanks for sharing as that’s a very important item to keep on hand and makes a whole lot more sense than a bag of frozen peas.”

What You’ll Need to Make Your Easy Homemade Ice Pack:

  • 4 cups Water
  • 1.5 cups Rubbing Alcohol
  • 1 Gallon Size Freezer Ziploc
  • Optional: Drops of Food Coloring, if you’re really feeling fun!

How to Make an Ice Pack with Water and Rubbing Alchol:

  • Add Water and Rubbing Alcohol to Freezer Ziploc, and zip up the bag.
  • Optional:Ā  Drop in some drops of Food Coloring if you’re in a wild mood and want a color-tinted ice pack!
  • Place flat in Freezer, and freeze.Ā  {you can also double bag this for extra strength if you’d like}
  • Whenever you need an ice pack, it will be waiting for you… just pull it on out of the freezer!
  • The combination of water and rubbing alcohol makes a fabulous moldable ice pack that can be conformed to wherever your owie is! šŸ˜‰

    I enjoy reading & trying out the different things in your website.
    I recently needed about 4 shoulder size ice packs because I was going in for surgery. Well I was worried it might break after using it so I only made one in the beginning. I was happy to say it worked & is still working without a leak. Now I have 4 ice packs what a wonderful idea. You have saved me alot of searching time & money.
    Thank you ever so much for this wonderful DIY projet
