My whole house smelled wonderful like an apple pie baking in the oven for hours. It was the perfect solution for dinner gathering at our home. I made in advance and then when we were done with dinner the apple crisp was hot and toasty and ready to serve to guests. Topped with a little ice cream, whipped topping or just plain – so good. Will make it again.

    1. Heidi Miller says:

I am so glad you liked the dump cake… and I agree, being able to make it in advance, then setting the crock pot to warm is so handy. Nothing beats having a hot dessert on standby ready to go for whenever!

I made this for dessert for Sunday dinner and it was incredible! Even my husband who doesn’t typically care for spice cake loved it! It’s super flavorful and reminds me of gingernaps. So, so good!

    1. Heidi Miller says:

I am so glad the hubby liked it. The spice from the spice cake mix is very subtle with this recipe, and because of that, the lovely apple flavor shines through beautifully!

This Apple Dump Cake recipe looks absolutely incredible, Heidi! I love how simple it is with just 4 ingredients. Making desserts in the crockpot is such a great option, especially when looking for cozy fall recipes. I can’t wait to try this out with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

    1. Heidi Miller says:

You can’t go wrong with a big ol’ scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. It takes this decadent apple treat to the next-level of deliciousness!

  4. Marjorie Grasta says:

Have been making this recipe for years. Absolutely love it. I’ve also been known to add chopped walnuts or pecans to the crumb topping. I also make sure topping is a golden brown. If using fresh apples I tend to precook for 15 min in oven before adding the crumb topping and than finish off with 30 min to brown and crisp up the topping

    1. Heidi Miller says:

I love your idea to add chopped walnuts or pecans to the topping, Marjorie… that sounds absolutely delicious! Thank you for sharing your tips when using fresh apples, too! Have a beautiful day!
