This old-fashioned classic Sugar Cookie Recipe is about to reward your cookie monster cravings with soft and chewy, buttery perfection! Believe me, you'll never go back to another recipe once you try these perfectly sweet and ridiculously easy cookies! Just 10 minutes of prep, and your cookie dough is oven ready!
1cupUnsalted Butter (softened to room temperature)
2Large Eggs
1tsp.Almond Extract
1/2cupGranulated Sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
Gather your ingredients.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Add 1/2 cup Sugar to small bowl, and set aside for later. (this will be used to roll cookie dough balls before baking)
Add Flour, Cream of Tartar, Baking Soda and Salt to large bowl, and whisk together until well combined. Set aside for later.
In separate large mixing bowl, cream together Butter and 1 1/2 cups Sugar for 1 – 2 minutes using hand mixer or stand mixer with paddle attachment.
Then add Eggs and Almond Extract, and continue mixing.
Finally, add Flour mixture, and continue to mix until well combined.
Roll dough into 1 tbsp. size balls, then roll each ball in bowl of sugar.
Place on a parchment lined nonstick cookie sheet, several inches apart.
Gently flatten each cookie dough ball with base of glass to 1/2″ thickness.
Bake for 7 – 9 minutes, or until done.
Allow cookies to cool on cookie for 2 minutes before transferring to wire rack to finish cooling.
Notes
Storage Tip: Cooled cookies can be stored at room temperature in an air tight container for up to 5 days.
