Do you love Washi Tape? Then you’ll love this Easy Washi Tape Valentine’s Day Frame!
Well hello there! I’m Amy from Mod Podge Rocks. I’ve never been a big Valentine’s Day person until I did a Aqua Valentine series last year . . . in which I threw hearts on their head by turning them blue.
It made for a more interesting Valentine’s Day in terms of crafting, and I’ve loved making projects for February 14th ever since.
Do you love washi tape? Because I do. And it’s all over the internet right now for great prices. Add washi tape to a $1 frame from the craft store and you have the cheapest Valentine’s Day home decor ever! Inexpensive, but looks great.
This frame would also make a great gift. Here’s how I did it.
Gather These Supplies:
- $1 frame from the craft store
- Mod Podge Super Gloss
- White acrylic paint
- Washi tape in Valentine’s patterns or colors
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Craft knife
Remove the back from your frame and paint with white acrylic paint and let dry.
Start in the center of your frame and place the washi tape down on the diagonal. You can do it horizontally or vertically as well – I chose to go diagonally.
Keep placing down washi tape and smoothing until the entire frame is full.
Use a craft knife to trim the edges – it was way too difficult to cut, which is why I used the craft knife. I just zipped it off with the craft knife.
Add Mod Podge Super Gloss over the top. Mod Podge Super Gloss acts as a varnish and gives a very shiny, smooth finish to a project.
Don’t use it to glue paper down – just as a varnish. I love the glossy finish! Let it dry before using.
Not only was the frame made on a budget, but it was done in about 30 minutes. Easy, quick and inexpensive – now that is my kind of project!
