Clarissa writes: “I made these for 8th grade teachers.”
Linda writes: “I did this last year with my grandson, who was 18 months old at the time. He loved putting the layers of candy into the jar. (I had one with a very wide mouth, so it was easier for him). And his mommy loved her Valentine surprise!”
Keesha writes: “If you’re really thrifty, buy the red and green M&Ms on clearance after Christmas, then sort out the red ones to use for V-day and the green ones for St. Patty’s (or just for eating as you make the V-day gifts!). If you want a mix of colors, layer them with an inexpensive second candy like conversation hearts.
Also, re-purposed jars work really well for this. We save our jelly jars all year long (they’re tall and narrow) because they look really cute filled with candy. You can decorate them just like canning jars, except you need to glue the scrapbook paper to the lid or paint it.”

Then tie a ribbon around the lid.
Optional: Affix a tag that says ‘Hugs & Kisses’ or ‘Kisses for When I’m Not Around’
One reader writes: “This is really a sweet Valentine gift to give away and to receive indeed! It’s also perfect for Mother’s day or even birthdays!”

DIY Valentine’s Day Hair Clips
Sweet Felt Hearts Craft
This Sweet Felt Hearts Craft is the perfect little Valentine’s DIY for a garland, games, or gifts! Plus, you won’t believe how easy they are to make!
This fun idea comes from frugal friend Britni… enjoy!
If you’re looking for a special gift for your little Valentines this year, look no further!
I sewed up this Sweet Felt Hearts Craft for my little one this Valentine’s Day and they are so quick and easy to make!
I think these would also be fun for older kids if you made enough for a game of tic-tac-toe! You could put some taped lines on the table or floor and let them have at it!
You could also try filling them with beans or rice too.
Or… consider making them into an adorable garland!
Here’s what you’ll need to get started…
Supplies needed:
Before you begin, you’ll want to gather up the following supplies…
- Felt
- Sewing machine and/or needle and thread
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Scissors
- Pinking shears {optional}
- Fabric marker
- Heart template {I used a cookie cutter}
How to Make Felt Hearts:
Cut two squares of felt large enough to fit your heart shape. Trace a heart onto one square. Sandwich the squares together and cut your heart-shape out.
You now have enough hearts to make one felt heart! Now repeat. Until you have the total number of hearts you want.
Place two hearts together {right-sides-out} and sew around the inside of the heart, leaving a big enough hole to push stuffing through.
I aimed to leave about an inch open, but most of the time it was probably closer to a 1/2”. Also leave a big enough seam allowance to trim the edges later. At least a 1/4”.
3. Stuff your heart with fiberfill. The less you fill it, the easier it is to sew shut!
4. Sew the opening closed. I’m not great with the hand sewing, so I used my sewing machine.
5. Trim the outside edges with pinking shears.
And done!
This is such a cute gift for the little ones! I hope you enjoy making these and love the printable too!
Thanks again to frugal friend Britni for sharing this fun project!
Blow Me a Kiss Valentines
Valentine’s Day Tootsie Pop Flowers
Kathy writes: “I made these for my daughters to bring to school. I like them better than cards, and they’re simple to make!”
How to Make Tootsie Pop Flowers:
- Cut out uniform size heart shapes from foam sheets
- Use a hole puncher to make a hole near the bottom of each heart
- Stick the lollipop through
- Print or write a message on green paper, and fasten around the lollipop stick… to look like a leaf!
- One fun message idea Kathy used was… ‘If friends were flowers, I’d pick you!’
Julie writes: “My daughter and I made these last year for her preschool class. We put them in a planter so they looked like a bouquet of flowers. Really cute and easy!”

Attach a sucker or other piece of candy under the mustache. If you wanna get crazy you could cut out the mustache, attach it to the leftover sucker stick (we cut the candy part off) and use it as a mustache prop!
Click on the picture below to download and print. For best results print on a quality matte paper using an ink jet printer.
