Nope!  No peeling is necessary… the skin will soften as they bake.

It’s actually really easy!  Using a sharp knife, you’ll core your apples.  Once that’s done, you’ve got the perfect hole to fill them up with tasty ingredients!

How Do You Make Baked Apples With Cinnamon?

Well… you can use your oven, but I LOVE using my crockpot to make baked apples.  The slow cooking method results in the most tender, delicious treats!

After you’ve cored your apples, you’ll just mix together brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and allspice, then load up the incredible mixture into your baked apples.  Then you’ll top them off with a pat of butter, put the lid on your crockpot, and let your slow cooker do the work for you!

Ingredients

  • 5 medium Gala Apples {depending on the size of your Crockpot}
  • ½ cup Quaker Old Fashioned Oats
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 3 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. Allspice
  • 1/4 cup Butter

Instructions

  • Pour 1/4 cup water in bottom of Crockpot
  • Carefully core apples using a small sharp knife. When coring the apple, you'll just want to go down about 1/2 - 3/4 of the way, leaving the bottom of the apple in tact so the filling doesn't fall out.
  • Then using the edge of knife, peel off approx. 1/2 inch of peel around the top.
  • Mix together Oats, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, and Allspice.
  • Fill each apple with Oats/Sugar/Spice mixture.
  • Top each apple with a pat of butter.
  • Carefully place in Crockpot, and put lid on Crockpot.
  • Cook on HIGH 3 – 4 hours, or until done.
  • Once they're done, enjoy as is, or top off with some whip cream!

When you core the apples, do you go all the way through? So there is a hole in the bottom of the apple? Does the stuffing not fall out?

Hi Joan ~ I would recommend refrigerating leftovers in an airtight container. Then they can be reheated in the microwave the next day. Hope that helps! 🙂
