If you’re looking for a special gift for your little Valentines this year, look no further! I sewed up this Sweet Felt Hearts Craft for my little one this Valentine’s Day and they are so quick and easy to make!
I think these would also be fun for older kids if you made enough for a game of tic-tac-toe! You could put some taped lines on the table or floor and let them have at it! You could also try filling them with beans or rice too.
Or… consider making them into an adorable garland!
Sweet Felt Hearts Craft
You will need:
- Felt
- Sewing machine and/or needle and thread
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Scissors
- Pinking shears {optional}
- Fabric marker
- Heart template {I used a cookie cutter}
1. Cut two squares of felt large enough to fit your heart shape. Trace a heart onto one square. Sandwich the squares together and cut your heart-shape out. You now have enough hearts to make one felt heart! Now repeat. Until you have the total number of hearts you want.
2. Place two hearts together {right-sides-out} and sew around the inside of the heart, leaving a big enough hole to push stuffing through. I aimed to leave about an inch open, but most of the time it was probably closer to a 1/2”. Also leave a big enough seam allowance to trim the edges later. At least a 1/4”.
3. Stuff your heart with fiberfill. The less you fill it, the easier it is to sew shut!
4. Sew the opening closed. I’m not great with the hand sewing, so I used my sewing machine.
5. Trim the outside edges with pinking shears.
And done!
This is such a cute gift for the little ones! I hope you enjoy making these and love the printable too!
