#2: Shop for Free at HomeDepot.com With FREE PayPal Gift Cards!
Did you know that you can use PayPal when checking out online? Go start collecting FREE PayPal Gift Cards when you take surveys with Survey Junkie. Once you reach 1,000 points, you can cash out your points for a $10 PayPal Gift Card!
Yes… that means you can shop online at the Home Depot for FREE!!
#3: Never Pay for Shipping + Get Free Curbside Pickup!
Why pay for shipping when you don’t have to?? I often find items that I want to Buy Online from Home Depot that aren’t available in the store. To avoid paying for shipping, I just have my order shipped to my local Home Depot, and then pick it up for Free!
Extra Bonus: My local Home Depot just installed “Amazon style” shipping lockers just inside the store where I was able to retrieve my order without even having to wait in line! Sweet!
If you don’t want to go inside your local store, you can also take advantage of FREE curbside pickup at select stores. Check here to see if your local store offers this service, then follow the website instructions for how to pickup the items you’ve ordered!
#4: Score Deep Discounts on Open Box Appliances!
If you’re on the hunt for a specific appliance, always check the appliance department for returned ‘Open Box’ appliances before making a purchase. These may have some minor scratches or dents, but are a great way to save BIG on your appliance purchase!
#5: Always Check End Caps for Clearance Deals!
You never know what you may find on clearance at Home Depot, so be sure to check the end caps for additional bargains before you checkout. You may have to head to the back of your store to find a clearance section, but it’s always worth a quick stop.
#6: Save BIG on Paint with Mis-tint Oops Paint!
When customers are ordering tinted paint, but it doesn’t come out to the exact color they’re wanting, Home Depot will mark the gallon or pint down DRASTICALLY, and sell it as a mis-tint or “Oops Paint”! I’ve picked up so many gallons of paint this way and used them to paint different rooms on a dime, again and again!
I was recently at my local Home Depot and they had a LOT of mis-tints! They were willing to give me any mis-tint for half of the already marked down price. It’s definitely worth asking for a lower price when you are thinking of buying any mis-tints!
#7: Bring Back Your Dead Plants for a Full Refund!
Did you know that Home Depot offers a full 1 Year Warranty on all plants? So if you take your plant home, plant it, and it just doesn’t make it, you can bring back your dead plant back to the store with your receipt for a full refund!
This is by far better than the 3 months that you can get from most local nurseries. For me, it can take 6-12 months to know if a plant is going to make it. This 1 year warranty has come in handy so many times in the past!
#8: Get Your Plants Potted for FREE!
When you buy both a plant and a pot at Home Depot, you can get it potted for free. This is especially handy if you rent, live in an apartment, or just don’t have time to pot the plant you want to give as a gift!
#9: Add To Your Cart… and Wait For the Price to Drop!
Another easy trick is to add items you’ve had your eye on to your cart, and wait for the price to drop. For example, I never pay full price for storage bins and organization supplies.
Home Depot regularly puts storage bins, storage racks, cabinets, and other organization supplies on sale throughout the year. So never pay full price… just wait for the item you need to go on sale!

#10: Then Stock Up When There is a Sale!
Wait to buy items you need until they go on sale! Before planning a trip to the store, be sure to check the current Home Depot ad to see if the items you want are on sale.
#11: Score a Deal on Damaged Merchandise!
Do you want to know another way to score some sweet deals? Look for torn bags of top soil and fertilizer. If these aren’t already marked down, just ask for a discount. You can usually get these bags for deep discounts! I recently picked up a bag and got 80% off!
#12: Ask for a Discount!
If you’ve got your eye on something but would like a better price, it never hurts to ask for a discount! I’ve had so many friends negotiate on pricing, and score some great deals on appliances, lumber, etc. just for asking for a lower price!
#13: Sign Up For Emails and Texts to Get A $5.00 Off Coupon!
When you sign up to receive Home Depot Emails and Texts, you will receive a $5.00 off $50.00 coupon!
#14: Get Wood Cut for FREE!
If you need to buy a piece of plywood, lumber or trim, you can get it cut for free right at the store! This is especially helpful if you can’t fit a full size sheet of plywood or a long piece of lumber into your vehicle, or if you don’t have the right kind of saw at home. Come prepared with the dimensions you need, then ask a Home Depot employee to cut the wood to those specific dimensions.
The large wall mounted saw is usually available at the back of the store, at the end of the lumber aisles. Extra bonus: you’ll save time when someone else cuts your wood, and you don’t have to make cuts at home. What an easy way to speed up your DIY and craft projects around the house!
Need a smaller piece of wood or trim cut? There are self-serve cutting stations on the wood trim aisles where you can cut your wood or trim to the desired length. No need to try hauling a 10′ long piece of wood home, when you need it to be half that length, and your driving a small SUV or sedan! Just cut it yourself right in the store, and make hauling wood home a lot easier!
#15: Shop The Black Friday Sale for HUGE Discounts!
I’ve scored so many great Home Depot Black Friday Deals over the years! Go check out the hottest deals + get sneak peeks at this year’s Black Friday Ads!
#16: Wait Until a Holiday Weekend to Save BIG on Appliances!
Need a new appliance? Wait until the major holiday sales for the best deals! Shop for Home Depot Appliances around Black Friday, President’s Day, Spring Black Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day for the lowest prices on appliances.
When shopping for appliances at Home Depot, take a minute to compare prices on the same item at Lowe’s, and at Best Buy, and finally at Sam’s Club to make sure you’re getting the best deal!
#17: Ask for Free Shipping and Installation of Appliances!
You can usually score free shipping and delivery for Home Depot Appliances when you spend a minimum amount. It’s important to ask to make sure you can get both free delivery and installation! Free installation is usually included with free delivery for refrigerators, washers and dryers.
But you’ll need to specifically ask to get deals for free installation on dishwashers and wall mounted microwave ovens. It is definitely worth asking to get free installation, as I have had success getting free installation on a dishwasher when free installation wasn’t even advertised.
Why spend half a Saturday installing a dishwasher when someone else can do it in 20 minutes for free!
Just make sure you have the required installation hoses and cords that may not come with your appliances. These must be purchased separately and you’ll need to have these available for the installers when they arrive at your house.
#18: Never Buy Full Priced Tools at Home Depot!
If you need to buy a tool that you don’t plan to use very often, it’s easy to save money when you simply skip buying your tools at Home Depot!
We recently needed a sledge hammer to help pound some metal stakes into the ground to tie up a Pomegranate Tree and 2 Ruby Red Grapefruit Trees we were planting in our backyard. We skipped the overpriced sledge hammer at Home Depot and got one at Harbor Freight for half price instead. You’ll get the best deals when you print some coupons on the Harbor Freight website before heading to the store!
Is the tool you need expensive? You can also use the Home Depot Tool Rental Department to rent the tool you need instead of buying it!
#19: Free Kids Workshops!
Give your kiddos a free building experience at one of the Free Home Depot Kids Workshops! To find out when the next Kids Workshop is happening, go to the Home Depot’s site, then select “DIY Project Ideas,” then “Free DIY Workshops.”
#20: Shop End of Season Clearance Sales for the Best Deals on Holiday Decor!
I’ve scored so many sweet deals the day after Christmas at Home Depot! It’s worth waking up early and heading to your local store to stock up on clearance indoor and outdoor decorations for the next year.
#21: Score Discounted Lawn and Yard Equipment!
If you need a new lawn mower, trimmer, tiller, leaf blower, pressure washer, chainsaw, or snow blower… be on the lookout for refurbished equipment offered at steep discounts at your local Home Depot.
When I visit my local Home Depot, there are usually 3-6 different refurbished items available in the garden section. These items are marked way way way down!
#22: Skip the Home Depot Credit Card & Get a BIG Cash Signup Bonus + More Cash Back Instead!
Some credit cards offer great sign-up bonuses, but Home Depot isn’t one of them. So I suggest skipping the Home Depot Credit Card all together, and check out my favorite Cash Back & BIG Signup Bonus Credit Cards here…
