What Your Frugal Friends Are Saying About This DIY Candle Project:

Supplies Needed to make Homemade Soy Candles:

  • 2 Regular Mouth 8 oz. Mason Jars {Half Pint}
  • Natural Soy Wax
  • Natural Candle Wicks
  • Wick Stickers
  • Optional: Peppermint Essential Oil for a lightly scented candle or Candle Fragrance Oil for a stronger scented candle

Instructions to make Homemade Soy Candles:

  • Attach bottom of wick to wick sticker, then affix wick sticker to the inside base of the jar. {have two 8 oz. jars ready}
  • Pour 4 cups of Soy Wax flakes into microwavable dish – I like to use my 4 cup measuring cup that has an easy pouring spout.
  • Microwave wax for 1 minute, stir, then for 30 second increments (stirring in between each time), until wax has completely melted.
  • After wax has melted, add in 100 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil or other choice of Essential Oil scent for a lightly scented candle, or around 1 oz {or 30 ml} of Candle Fragrance Oil for a stronger scented candle. {I prefer using the Fragrance Oils for more luscious, highly scented candles}
  • Stir well, then carefully pour into your two 8 oz. mason jars you prepared with wicks.
  • As the wax dries, you can keep the wick propped up by laying 2 pencils across the top of the jar, and resting the wick on top.
  • Allow wax to solidify overnight, prop the top of the wicks upright, trim the wicks, and you’re done!

What You’ll Need To Make This Candle:

Regular Mouth 8 oz. Mason Jars

Candle Fragrance Oil

Natural Soy Wax

Natural Candle Wicks

Wick Stickers

Wasn’t that SO easy?

The first time I made candles I seriously couldn’t believe how easy they were to make!

    Can you tell me if I can paint the outside of the mason jar before pouring in the wax?

    Hello!
    Thank you for such a fantastic blog, full of wonderful ideas!
    I’m interested in making candles for the holiday season.
    How many drops of Fragrance oil do you recommend for a batch of 2 8oz candles?
    I plan on purchasing the premium grade oils that you have listed on the your page from Amazon.
