Supplies Needed

Here is what you’ll need to have on hand…

  • Fresh Cut Flowers from Store or your Garden
  • Lukewarm Water
  • Granulated Sugar {to feed flowers}
  • Sharp Scissors

How to Cut Flowers

Here’s what you’ll do…

1. First you’ll want to fill your vase or mason jar with clean warm water.

2. Add sugar to the water in the vase, and stir well until sugar dissolves. You’ll need approx. 1 1/2 tablespoons Sugar per 1 quart of Water.

3. Then allow water to come to room temperature before placing your flowers in the vase.

4. Once water is lukewarm, cut the bottom of your flower stems at a sharp angle under lukewarm running water, or while submerged in a basin of lukewarm water.

5. This angle will allow your stems to absorb more water, as opposed to a straight cut!

6. Arrange flowers in vase, and remove any leaves below the water line.

7. Be sure to change water, and add fresh sugar to new water, every other day to keep flowers fresh the longest.

8. On water changing days, stems should also be cut again at an angle under lukewarm water before being placed back in the fresh water.

Now enjoy your pretty blooms!

Wasn’t that SO easy?
