How Often Should I Clean My Diamond Ring?
So… can you clean your diamond ring too much?
Now if you’re wondering how often should I clean my diamond ring, well… I like to clean mine at least once or twice a month.
Diamonds are extraordinarily strong and sturdy, and can handle a good regular cleaning.
Plus… who wants a ring full of gunk and germs on their hand? Eeks!
So go on and work it into your schedule… it will hardly take any time, and you can multitask while it soaks. The sparkly bling factor when you’re done is always an added bonus!
DIY Jewelry Cleaner Tips
Now this trick doesn’t just work for diamond rings, it works great on other jewelry, too!
Here are some other pieces recommended by my jeweler…
- Diamond Engagement Rings
- Wedding Rings – Gold, White Gold or Platinum
- Ruby Rings
- Diamond Stud Earrings (with Gold or Platinum Posts)
- Diamond Tennis Bracelets
Just don’t try this method on your costume jewelry, because pieces are often prone to tarnishing and corrosion, so you want to avoid getting them wet.

Pin ItWhy Should I Use Blue Dawn Dish Soap?

It’s simple… the blue Dawn is just more powerful at cutting through grease and gunk, while also being gentler on your jewelry.
Any orange or lemon varieties may contain citric acid, which can be harsher on certain metals.
How to Clean Your Jewelry at Home
1: Add approx. 10 drops of Dawn Dish Soap to a small glass or jar, then fill with warm (not hot) water.
2: Remove your ring, and gently place it in the jar, and allow to soak for 15 minutes. (This will help loosen up the dirt and grime.)
3: Are you wondering how do you clean under a diamond ring? That’s where the toothbrush comes in!
4: After 15 minutes, remove your ring from the water, and brush gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Make sure to scrub well around the prongs that hold your diamond in place. Also be sure to scrub the bottom of the diamond where the light will hit and bounce off of it.
5: After scrubbing with a toothbrush, gently rinse your ring with water. (making sure a sink stopper is in place to cover the drain.)
6: Allow your ring to air dry for at least 15 minutes, and you’re done! So how easy was that? Now watch your pretty ring sparkle!
