January 15th – 23rd is Educator Appreciation Week at Barnes & Noble! Teachers and Homeschoolers save 25% on books, games, toys, and gift items, and 10% on CDs and DVDs.

  2. Kim says

For the last few weeks Fry’s has had a coupon in their ad for 20 percent off all school supplies for teachers. It is also in the Fry’s Mercado ad, giving teachers 2 coupons per week to use.

  3. Kim says

Mensaforkids.org and crayola.com both offer free printable unit studies plus lots of games, crafts, and art project you can print off for free.

  4. Kim says

One more discount…Office Max has their Extreme deal of the week, it’s usually something for 1 cent or 3 cents. The purchase limit is usually 2 or 3. All teachers, including homeschoolers can purchase up to 25 of that item, at that price. Once a week all summer long I went in and got 25 of the extreme deal of the week and completly filled my supply closet for almost nothing. For example; 25 spiral bound notebooks for .25 cents, 25 3-pronged folders for 25cents, etc. If you sign up for their teacher perks program, (free) they will email you a coupon each month, usually something for free. Last month it was 300 free return address lables, last month 200 free business cards. It is totally worth your time!

Yes, Banana Republic offers and educators discount of 15% off full priced merchandise, excluding handbags, shoes, and their Heritage and Monogram collections. Teachers and college students just need to show their ID at checkout!!! It’s doesn’t combine with other offers, but when no promotions are going on, it helps!!!

      • Sarah says

Visit your local Verizon Store with your teacher/staff ID (they will scan it into their system). I work and teach at a community college and we are eligible for 20% off of our monthly bills and purchases. I think the discounts vary (they offer discounts to both businesses and educational institutions).

  5. Laura says

J.Crew also gives 15% to teachers! Gotta get your school wardrobe. :) They won’t apply it online, but if your store doesn’t have an item and you call J.Crew to order it and tell them that, they’ll honor your teacher discount over the phone!

  6. Kellie says

Aceeducational.com is the best! Their prices are marked down by 20% for online exclusives and the shipping is free. Best products overall, great selection!

  7. says

Joanne’s also has an educator discount. I think it is 15 or 20%

Staples has a 20% discount card!

Oh! and Books A Million too – they will also give to homeschooling parents. :-)

  8. Sarah says

EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) offers 15% discounts on purchases with Teachers/Staff ID.

Charlotte Russe offers 15% discounts to both Teachers/Staff AND students with ID.

  9. Linda Sheppard says

I always ask if there is an educational or non profit discount and find many businesses are willing to give one, both online and in retail locations.

  10. Amanda Polzin says

OMG! Thank you for this web sit… Esp the container store… I am a new teacher with my first job as a virtual teacher and now I can afford to be organized.

  11. says

Keep in mind that Sea World does not honor a discount for Homeschoolers, but Lego Land in Florida DOES honor homeschool children with the $5 admission!!! :)

  12. Janet Habina says

Ann Taylor Loft or The Loft does teacher discounts too. Also, just like JCrew they run teacher appreciation nights where teachers get to shop after the store closes and with FULLY stocked shelves. :)

  13. Sue Ptak says

Great list. Yes, Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is FREE to educators. So is the Field Museum, Science and Industry, and I believe the Adler Planetarium. If you live in the Chicago area, they all also have free educators’ open houses in the fall to highlight their programs. The one at MSI has great food and 2 beer/wine tickets per person. BTW, only admission is free; you have to pay for any special exhibits.

    • Nicole says

This is true however the field museum asks for chicago teachers only..the others shedd and science museum do not.

  14. Sarah says

Does Sea World honor the free pass for private school teachers? I have an ID badge, but I don’t have a certificate.

    • Lisa Dutton says

No – you have to have the certification from the state of Florida for the SeaWorld pass – I teach at a private school that does not require certification and even though I can produce photo ID, teacher ID and a paystub – no go without that certification :(

  15. Lori W says

If you are a Sprint customer, ask them about their teacher discount on your monthly bill. I did!

  16. Jamie says

A.C. Moore is now 15%, you have to have your teacher badge, homeschool certificate, or a copy of any certification saying that you are a teacher. It is 15% off of EVERYTHING including sale items and you can still use the coupons that come out weekly.

  17. Stephanie says

The Philadelphia Zoo in Pennsylvania gives a free annual summer teacher pass, you just have to register & then show I.D. or your most current pay stub when you go :)

  18. Katie Cline says

I’m a teacher and I work at Eddie Bauer during the summers. They offer a 15% discount for all teachers as well :)

  19. Cherie says

Does anyone know if there are discounts for Paras/teacher aides? I have been a Para for special education for 14 years and I often purchase my own supplies to use at work.

  20. Erica says

Hi, I work at AC Moore and as of about two months ago, we changed our Teacher’s Discount to 15% but you need an NJEA (or equivalent) card or other form of identification that you work in a school, like a pay stub or school ID. We no longer accept the Teachers Cards. Just a friendly tip!

  21. says

Great TEACHER discount rates at the COMFORT INN OCEANSIDE-DEERFIELD BEACH, FL!! Check out our website, call and ask for the teacher discount rates and make a reservation!

  22. Tori White says

I was just wondering what do you have to show to get these discounts. I am a senior at LSU in elementary education and I was just wondering if I could start getting these discounts now or only after I graduated.

  23. Nanya P. says

For Books a million do you have to register for the discount or just show Id? Also do they take homeschoolers?

    • Michelle Hubbard says

I’ve used my homeschool group membership card and my consumable book order to prove. If you google free homeschool I’d, there is a site to print your own. :)
