shortening

sugar

molasses

egg

teaspoons
baking soda

teaspoon
salt

flour
½
teaspoon
ground cloves
½
teaspoon
ground ginger

teaspoon
cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 and grease a cookie sheet.
Melt shortening in a pot, remove and cool.
Add sugar, molasses, and egg; beat well.
Combine flour, spices, and salt.
Mix molasses mixture into flour mixture.
Mix well and chill.
Once dough has chilled, form into 1 inch balls, roll the balls in granulated sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8-10 minutes.
The cookies need to come out of the oven a little underbaked if you want them to be soft and chewy!
Let the cookies cool before removing them from the pan.
