Chocolate Whopper Cookies Recipe

Indulge in one of your favorite childhood candies when you use this Chocolate Whopper Cookies Recipe to bake up a batch of crunchy malted milk ball treats!
Prep Time15 minutes mins
Cook Time7 minutes mins
Chill Time2 hours hrs
Total Time2 hours hrs 22 minutes mins
Servings: 30 cookies

Ingredients

  • 13.25 ounces Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
  • 1/3 cup Melted Butter (Vegetable or Canola Oil can be substituted)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 3 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips (for cookie dough)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips (for topping)
  • 40 Whoppers

Instructions

  • Cut each Whopper candy into 4 pieces, and set about 80 pieces aside for later to use when topping the cookie dough balls.
  • Combine Cake Mix, Melted Butter (or oil), and Eggs in large mixing bowl, and mix with hand mixer or stand mixer until well combined.
  • Then add 3 tablespoons Mini Chocolate Chips, remaining pieces of Whoppers, and any Whopper powder or dust from chopping into cookie dough, and stir until well combined.
  • Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • After dough has chilled, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll cookie dough into 1 1/2 tablespoon sized rounded balls and transfer to cookie sheet.
  • Then place about 3 whopper pieces on top of each cookie dough ball as well as several mini chocolate chips. (This will give the finished cookies a pretty look on top.)
  • Bake on center oven rack for 7 – 13 minutes, or until done. (Note: Bake on the shorter end of the time range for non-stick cookie sheets & longer end of the time range for aluminum cookie sheets.)
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer cookies to wire racks to finish cooling, and ENJOY!

Notes

When it comes to Cake Mix Cookies, salted or unsalted butter can be used, as the cake mix will have a little salt in it.  However, I’ve found that salted butter will result in superior flavor.
