Cake Mix Dump Cake Recipe! {Key Lime}
Ingredients
- 15.25 oz. Betty Crocker Vanilla Cake Mix {1 box}
- 44 oz. Key Lime Pie Filling {use 2 cans, 22 oz. each, OR use homemade Key Lime Pie filling}
- 8 tbsp. Butter, melted {1/2 cup or 1 stick}
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray inside of glass or ceramic 9Ć13 Casserole Dish with non-stick cooking spray
- Empty cans of Key Lime Pie Filling into bottom of baking dish, and spread out evenly.
- In medium mixing bowl, combine dry Cake Mix and melted Butter, and stir until crumbly. {break up any large chunks into small crumbles with spoon}.
- Pour cake/butter crumble mixture over lime pie filling in baking dish, and spread out evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until sides are hot and bubbly.
- Optional: Serve with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream, or top with Whip Cream and Toasted Coconut. ENJOY!

Can you make this like a traditional dump cake and just spread the dry cake mix on top of the filling and then top with pats of the solid butter?

Hi Valerie… yes – that would work too, however I prefer mixing in the melted butter with the cake mix to make a thicker more buttery crumble with each bite. š

I used to find the key lime creme at Walmart but they havenāt had it in stock for a while now so I contacted the company to see where I could find it and was told it has been discontinued. So Iām going to try this using the lemon Creme pie filling instead.
